Wojtkowicz gets call-up to Ireland U20s
Their run in the U20s World Cup may not be going as well as hoped with 2 defeats so far but there is Sligo interest in how Noel McNamara's men are faring.
Sligo RFC's prop Kuba Wojtkowicz was called up to play for Ireland in the U20 Rugby World Cup in France on Thursday.
The 19-year-old Kuba from Aylesbury in Sligo, is a former Sligo Grammar School player and has made his mark at senior level as tighthead prop.
Last year Kuba won the title of Ulster Bank Provincial Player of the Year for Connacht and was also named the Division 2C Player of the Year. Teammates and supporters congratulated Kuba on the call up and he follows the likes of former U20 captain Cillian Gallagher, Conan O'Donnell and Stephen Kerins who all played for the side and were Sligo RFC teammates.
Ireland were narrowly beaten 26-24 in their opening game with hosts France and then took on the Springboks on Sunday, South Africa winning 30-17.
Ireland play Georgia in their final Pool game on Thursday. The side features predominantly players from Leinster and Ulster.
