Sligo hosts top wrestling tournament

By Colm Marren For the first time ever, Irish Whip Wrestling (IwW) is coming to Sligo town. Professional wrestling fans in Sligo have had few opportunities to see live events in their home town, but that will all change Thursday April 27th as IwW is coming to the Mail Coach Road Community Centre, Sligo, as part of its 10 day national tour.

Fans of Irish wrestling will recognise IwW as the number one promotion in the country – they have sold out shows across the country, from Kildare, to Laois, right up to the National Basketball Arena in Dublin, and at last IwW are paying a long-awaited visit to its fans in the West.

This event will have all of IwWs top stars, including IwW International Heavyweight Champion SOS Seamus O'Shaunessy, who has received two WWE tryouts in the past year, as well as appearing on TV3 and RTE2.

Other stars include: The Heretic Red Vinny, The Insane One Mad Man Manson, Gonzo de Mondo, The French Paradoxx Pierre Marceau, The Ballymun Bruiser, and Sligo's own J.C. Williams.

IwWs shows are billed as A night's entertainment for all the family and they do live up to their word; whether its amazing high-flying, pure raw power, or even a good laugh, IwW have it all.

When asked about IwW coming to his home county, Tourlestrane native J.C. Williams had this to say: "For too long, Sligo has been deprived of wrestling – well, that's about to change because April 27th IwW are coming to Sligo, and it promises to be an amazing show for all the family. I'd urge all wrestling fans and families to come to the Mail Coach Road Community Centre because IwW will give you an incredible nights entertainment that you won't forget."
