Reason to celebrate in Ballymote as twins part of victorious rugby teams

There was reason to celebrate in the Davey household over the festive period. Twin brothers Martin and Matt were part of victorious rugby outfits.

Martin Davey captained the Beaumont rugby team which won the prestigious Dublin hospitals cup in the historic old Belvedere grounds.

The Beaumont team had a tough battle against their counterparts from the Mater hospital. It was a closer game than the 27 - 14 scoreline suggests and was played in front of a large crowd at the Donnybrook club.

It was a great week for the Davey boys as his twin brother Matt was part of the Sligo RFC team that bridged the 103 year gap when beating the Corinthians to win the Connacht Senior Cup in a nail biting finish.

Sligo are top of the League during the Christmas break.
