Calry AC host Supervalu 5k ahead of Tireragh event

The third event in the 2018 Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership SuperValu Women's 5K Series took place in scorching temperatures last week in association with Calry AC.

With a new route around Ballytivnan, Clarion Road and Ash Lane, the event was again led home by Heather Foley of North Sligo AC with Mari Johnson of Sligo AC in second and another North Sligo AC athlete, Andrea Horgan in third.

Despite the warm conditions, all the women who participated came in in under 40 minutes which is a notable achievement, so well done to all involved.

Running in these testing conditions will stand to participants in the weeks ahead.

The series takes a break next week to as many of the local ladies are participating in the popular Women's Mini Marathon in Dublin on the Bank Holiday Monday.

The fourth event in the Series will be hosted by Tireragh AC on Tuesday next, 12th June and will take place in Skreen/Dromard. Registration takes place from 6.30pm onwards in the Skreen/Dromard Community Centre with the run starting at 7.30pm.

Newcomers are welcome to join in the series at any stage.

So if you haven't had a chance to participate yet this year why not give it a go in the beauty of west Sligo?
