Padraig Doohan who were the recipients of the senior and intermediate player of the year awards for 2012.

The monthly club meeting will take place on Monday next November 26th in St.Nathy's Hall at 9pm. All members are encouraged to attend.

A Sligo GAA coaching seminar will be held on Monday Dec 3rd in the Radisson Blu Hotel at 7pm. Among the topics covered are Diet & Nutrition and Strength & Conditioning. This should be of interest to coaches and players alike with admission optional.

Any student interested in applying for the GAA third level scholarship scheme can download the relevant form from the Connaught GAA website.

Anyone interested in taking part in this year's Scór senior or junior competition should contact cultural officer Noelle Brennan or Secretary Leo Coleman.

The 2012 club annual general meeting has been re-fixed for Saturday, December 15th in St. Nathy's Hall at 8pm. All members are welcome to attend. Anyone interested in becoming involved with administration or coaching can contact Secretary Leo Coleman or any committee member.

St. Farnan's Ladies

Next weekend is a busy one for the club in terms of fundraising starting with our second annual Christmas Flower Arranging Demonstration in Dromore West Community Centre on Friday 30th . Martina Flynn of the Sligo Flower and Garden Club will demonstrate the art of preparing beautiful Christmas floral decorations for the home, all of which will be raffled off at the end of the night. Refreshments will be served and there will also be plenty of spot prizes, etc. so why not come along and enjoy a good night out while at the same time supporting your local Ladies Football club. Admission is €10 and the event starts at 8.30 pm.

The annual church gate collection in aid of underage boys and girls football held in conjunction with the GAA club will take place at masses in both parishes on the Sat 1st and Sun 2nd of Dec. Your support for both these fundraising events would be much appreciated.

At a recent meeting with members of the GAA Club plans were drawn up for an underage boys and girls presentation function which will be held in Dromore West Community Centre on Friday Dec. 28th next. The event will cater for all players up to and including U-14's from both clubs and further details will be announced as they become available.

The Sligo Ladies Co. Bd. Annual Convention will take place in The Embassy this Thursday Nov. 29th at 7.30 pm.

Sympathy is extended to Bernie Mullarkey and her extended family on the death of her uncle.


The club would like to congratulate Padraig Doohan on receiving an all star and the intermediate player of the year on Friday night last. Padraig is a true club man on and off the field. The inspiration and encouragement he illustrates to younger members in the club is always of such a high standard. This award is well deserved following one of his finest seasons on the pitch. Well done also to David Flannery, Mark Gormley, Liam Óg Gormley, Vincent Frizzell and Michael Gormley who also received All Star Awards at the banquet on Friday night.

Notice all card players; there will be a 25 card game on Sunday the 2nd of December @ 5.30pm. The card drive will take place in the community park club house.


Our U 20 team were defeated St Marys 1-7 to 1-3 in the Championship final in Tourlestrane on sunday last .Well done to Manager Keelan Cawley,Ciaran Maloney and Gary Cawley who prepared the boys so well.This was our final game and brings our season for 2012 to a close.

There was no winner of our weekly lotto.The Numbers drawn were 18,20,29,31. The winner of Match 3 numbers. Next draw takes place in the Club on Monday next at 10pm. Jackpot 3,700 Euro.

Well done to John Mc Partland and Niall Murphy who were awarded Club All star Awards on Friday last in the Raddison Hotel .

Thanks to everyone who supported our Table quiz in the Strand on Thursday last. It was a great success.

The club AGM is deferred until early January.

Cake sale in Ransboro school on Sunday Dec 2nd after 11 am Mass.Children can come along and meet Santa and hand deliver your letter person to Santa.

Cash for Clobber:Anybody who has old clothes, shoes, handbags curtains etc that they no longer want can bring /give such items to the club in Ransboro Park every Saturday from 12 to 4pm. St. Pat's

St Pats hold their A.G.M on Friday next November 30th at 9pm in the Community Centre. All members are asked to attend.The club invite anyone who would like to join the club to attend.

Calry/St Joseph's

A great night was had at The Thorny Rose on Saturday in the Clarion Hotel. A big thanks to everyone who came, all the contestants and of course the organisers of the night. Well done to Eddie Mac Hale and Peter Dolan who were the winners on the night.

The hurlers travel to Birmingham in the UK this weekend for their match against Fullen Gaels in the All Ireland Quarter Final. We wish them all the best!

The AGM is postponed till January 26th due to the Hurlers match on December 2nd in Manchester.

The AGM of St. John's GAA club will be held in Clubhouse on Sunday 2nd December, 2012 at 2 pm.All players, Club members, Team Managers and members of the public are welcome to attend.

It is expected all team reports, accounts and election of officers for the coming year will be conducted.
