The Tournament was organised by the Western Gaels Club in memory of the late Donal Kirby, a Limerick man who was the first Secretary of the club when it was formed in 1999.

The tournament was played at Enniscrone / Kilglass’ grounds at Quigabar and featured teams from Western Gaels, Naomh Eoin and Drumcliffe Rosses Point playing in a three way ‘blitz format.

In the round robin stage, there was a win for each team with Naomh Eoin defeating Western Gaels, 0-6 to 0-5, in the first game; Drumcliffe-Rosses Point beating Naomh Eoin, 2-6 to 1-3, in the second game and then Western Gaels overcoming Drumcliffe-Rosses Point, 0-8 to 1-1, in the third game.

With all three teams level, Western Gaels and play Drumcliffe-Rosses Point progressed to the final as they had the greater scoring difference.

In the end the home side prevailed by three points in the final 0-4 to 0-1 to conclude a very enjoyable evening of fast hurling
