Tough second half sees brave Sligo's advantage slip away

LIDL NFL Division 3: Kildare 2-13 Sligo 1-8

Sligo took to the road again for their match via Kildare in St Conleth's Park, Newbridge on Sunday and Micéal Bohan's side showed great prominence in the first half, kicking no wides, compared to Kildare's six.

The Yeats women went in at half time ahead of their rivals by 3 points, leading by 1-7 to Kildare's 1-4.

With hopes high, Sligo took to the field for the second half with Sarah Cunney and Megan McCormack substituting for Claire Dunne and Rachel O'Brien due to injury. However, Sligo failed to challenge Kildare's dominance in the midfield and half-forward line, which led to their lead slip away early on in the second half.

The full time score was Sligo 1-8 to Kildare 2-13. Sligo will regroup and face Down this Sunday for their first home game in Eastern Harps' pitch in Keash at 2pm.
