FOLLOWING their side’s commendable performance against much-favoured Cavan in the Tailteann Cup semi-final in Croke Park on Sunday, three of Tony McEntee’s men have been selected for the team of the week.

Spillane has also been shortlisted for Player of the Week alongside Westmeath’s John Heslin and Cavan’s Gearóid McKiernan.

Sligo were defeated by the 2020 Ulster champions by 1-14 to 0-20 with Mickey Graham’s side now meeting Westmeath for the competition’s inaugural honours.

Westmeath have 7 players on the Team of the Week; Heslin, Jack Smith, Kevin Maguire, Jamie Gonoud, Sam McCartan, Ronan O’Toole and Lorcan Dolan while Cavan have 4; McKiernan, Jason McLoughlin, Oisín Kiernan and Gerard Smith.

Offaly, who were defeated by Westmeath in the other semi-final also on Sunday, have one nominee, Dylan Hyland.
