Faced Ballyshannon outfit Aodh Rua in Div 2 Shield final while Easkey/St Farnan’s give good account against Tooreen
There were two Sligo teams in action in the finals of the inaugural Cúchulainn Cup last weekend.
The Cúchulainn Cup is a development competition designed to create competition for hurling clubs in counties with small hurling playing populations.
Easkey/St Farnans contested the final of Division One of the competitions where they faced Tooreen of Mayo at the Connacht Centre of Excellence at Bekan.
The Mayo side were ahead from early in the game, but it was a tightly fought contest that ebbed and flowed.
In the end the long-time Mayo powerhouses prevailed by eight points, 2-24 to 1-19, but the Sligo side gave a strong account that will be invaluable in their championship preparations.
Meanwhile in Ballyshannon, Naomh Eoin had a comfortable victory, 5-24 to 0-11 over the host side Aodh Rua in the Division Two Shield final.
