Rathcormac NS gained their first ever victory in the 9 A side Cumann na mBun Scoil Hurling Competition V Ransboro NS at Ransboro. Our senior footballers cruised to an emphatic victory over an understrength Bunninadden in the final group game of this year's Kiernan Cup competition.

Our nursery programme for Jnr and Snr infants continues on Tuesday evenings while our u-10 training goes ahead at the new time of 11am on Saturday mornings.

The hilarious comedy "A Lock of Fierce Roars" by John McManus takes place in the resource centre this Friday, April 4th at 8pm.

The club extends deepest sympathies to Alice McDonagh and he McDonagh family, Cabra on the death of Mr Winnifried Sweeney, and the Duignan family, Tullynure on the death of Mr Patrick Duignan.


Our Monthly Club meeting is this Wednesday eve April 2nd at 9.00pm in Clubhouse. The Club lotto draw numbers drawn were 15, 16, 19, 27. Match 3 for €50 was Phil Mulcahy, next weeks lotto jackpot now stands at €9,800. Our senior hurlers play Naomh Eoin away on Sunday next at 12 noon in Kent Park in the first round of the Dermot Molloy

Hurling League: Outdoor hurling commences on Saturday. from 11am at Ransboro Park for U10, U12 and U14 teams.

The Club has organised Bag Packing in Dunnes Stores this weekend from Thursday at 4.00pm to Saturday.

St Farnan's

St. Farnan's were defeated by Castleconnor in the Benson Cup by 0-12 to 3-10 on Saturday last in a game played in very wet conditions in St. Farnan`s Park. The intermediate team are scheduled to play Calry/ St. Josephs in the league on Saturday, April 12th.

The under 16 team played a draw against Tubbercurry/Cloonacool at home on Sunday last. This was a very competitive game with Tubbercurry leading for most of the match. The home side battled very hard and got a well deserved draw. The score was Tubbercurry/ Clooonacool 2-7, St. Farnan`s 3-4.The next under 16 match is against Curry on Friday, April 11th.

The under 14 team play their first match against St. John`s on Monday and the next game is at home against Calry/ St. Joseph`s on Monday, April 7th.


Registration is now due and must be paid as soon as possible to your team trainer, manager or club treasurers. All players must be registered.

Well done to Rachel Frizzel and Isobel Thornton who both participated in the Go Games at half time during the Sligo Ladies game recently.

Well done to our club members Red Óg Murphy, Oisin Higgins, Dillon Wright, Tommy Henry, Jack Maher, Blaine McIntyre, Kian Waters and the rest of the St Attractas Juvenile team who won the Post Primary Connacht final in extra time in what was a very thrilling game.

Eastern Harps

Our senior team beat St. John's in the third round of the Kiernan cup and now face Tubbercurry in the semi final which is due to be played in Tourlestrane on Saturday at 7:30pm.

Bingo takes place every Friday at 8:30pm in Gurteen Hall.

St Molaise Gaels

This Tuesday evening April 1st our minor boys are at home to St Mary's in the A league at 6.30pm.

On Monday next April 7th our U14 A and C boys teams have home fixtures against Easkey and Bunninadden respectively. Time of both fixtures to be confirmed.

Our senior team went down by 1-13 to 1-06 to Drumcliffe/Rosses Point in the KIernan Cup on Saturday last.

The monthly club meeting will take place on Monday next April 7th at 9.00pm.

Underage coaching continues Saturday mornings at 10.00am for Girls and 11.00am for boys. Our Club shop selling tracsuits, teeshirts, hoodies and beanies will be open this Saturday morning.

Sligo Leader are running a 5 week course on Wednesday's 6.00pm to 8.00pm. for anyone interested in learning to do daily tasks on the internet. Cost is 25 euros for the course and the venue is Grange Post Primary School. To register and for further information ring Sligo leader 071-9141138.


On Sunday last our senior team lost to Easkey at home in the last round of the Benson Cup.Training this week on Tuesday and Thursday evening at 8pm.

Tubbercurry/Cloonacool U16 team played St. Farnans on Sunday, the final score was St. Farnans 3-4, Tubbercurry/Cloonacool 2 - 7.

Congratulations to the Cloonacool Players who qualified for the All Ireland Drama Festival Finals with 'Many Young Men of Twenty'. Wishing everyone involved the very best of luck in the All Ireland Finals which takes place from 4th - 12th April in Claremorris.

Tubbercurry/Cloonacool U12 training resumes this evening at 6.30pm in Kilcoyne Park.

The minor team are due to begin their league campaign at home to Curry next Saturday. More details later in the week.

The u16 team are back in action on April 11th, Friday week, away to St Pats at 6.30pm.

The u14 team play Calry/St Josephs on Monday evening, March 31st, at 6.30 pm in Quigabar in the opening round of the league.

The u12 team have returned to training and have their first match on April 15th. A full list of fixtures is now available on the Sligo GAA website.

Well done to all the boys and girls who took part in our nursery coaching programme. The scheme was a terrific success with an average of 40 kids taking part each night. Thanks to all the coaches who helped out in any way.

The Jigs n' Reels fundraiser will take place on Easter Sunday night 20th April, in the Sligo Park Hotel. Twelve couples from Coolaney, Mullinabreena, Tubbercurry, Cloonacool, Curry, Geevagh and Ballymote will strut their stuff on the night, all in aid of our Club development fund.

U-12 training will commence on Tuesday 1st April at 7pm in Nace O'Dowd park. U-8 and U-10 coaching has Started on Saturday mornings in Nace O Dowd park at 10am.

The U.14 team play Owenmore Gaels in Achonry on Monday 7th April at 6.30pm. Our Minors play St. Mary's in Achonry on Tuesday 8th March at 6.30pm.


Football training for U6's, 8's and 10's take place every Friday evening from 6:30-7:30. Parents are reminded that all players including all underage players must wear a mouth gaurd both when training and playing matches.

Our senior football team made it 3 wins from 3 in Group 'C' of the Kiernan Cup with a comprehensive win away to St. Patrick's on a 4:18 to 1:06 scoreline. This Saturday the 5th of April we play Eastern Harps in the Kiernan Cup Semi Final in Tourlestrane at 7:30pm.

In a tight encounter in west Sligo the Tubbercurry/Cloonacool U16A football team played a draw with St. Farnan's on a scoreline of Tubbercurry/Cloonacool 2:07 St. Farnan's 3:04. There is no U16 fixture this week.

The Tubbercurry/Cloonacool U18A football team will play Calry St. Joseph's in Kilcoyne Park on Tuesday the 1st of April at 6:30pm.

A meeeting will be held on Monday the 31st of March at 8pm in The cellar Meeting Room regarding our U-12,14 & 16 Hurling teams for 2014.

The club PR Committee will meet on Monday the 31st of March at 9pm in The Cellar Meeting Room.

The next club committee meeting is scheduled for Monday the 6th of April at 9pm in The Cellar Meeting Room.


The club held their annual table quiz last Friday night. The club would like to thank Currids Pharmacy, Councillor Pat McGrath, Costcutters Ballymote, Gormleys Corner House and Henrys Service Station for sponsoring prizes for the raffle. Thanks are also due to Gerry Gormley, premium sponsor, for hosting the quiz.

The seniors lost their first match of the season against Shamrock Gaels in the Benson Cup.

The u-16s' match against Geevagh was called off. They play away to Bunninadden on Friday evening at 6.30.

Shamrock Gaels

It was a good weekend for the club with all teams winning. The Senior team had a 1-16 to 0-10 win over Ballymote in the Benson Cup while the Junior team defeated St Marys 3-10 to 3-8 in the Abbott Cup.

The Minor team had a 5-17 to 1-5 win over Bunninadden in the league. The scorers were: Daniel Willis (1-1), Michael Kilkenny (3-7), Mark Kearns (0-4), Caolan Morrisroe (0-3), Darragh Lyons (0-2), Ciaran Kilfeather (1-0).

The U14 team get their campaign underway this Monday with a home game against St Maloise Gaels with the two teams out in Riverstown and Coola at 6.30PM.

The Club wish Coola PPS the best of luck in the Junior C Connacht Semi-Final this Wednesday in Tubbercurry at 2PM - there are a number of Gaels players on the panel - please come out and support if you can.

There was no winner of the Lotto - match 3 winner was Lauri Quinn. The numbers drawn were 14, 15, 23, 24. The next draw is in Tommy Macs on 12th April with the jackpot at €4,400.

The club express sympathy with the Finn Family and relatives on the death of Michael Finn, Collooney and also the family and relatives of Pat Duignan, Geevagh both of whom died at the weekend.

St Pat's

St Pat's Seniors were defeated by Tubbercurry in their last latest game in the Kiernan Cup. St Pats play host to Bunninadden in round two of the league on April 12th.Time to be confirmed in next weeks notes.

The Juniors play away to Coolera on Sunday April 13th further details next week.The Minors play host to St Michaels this evening Tuesday at 6.30pm.

St Pat's U16s play away to St John's on Friday next April 4th at 6.30pm in Stenson Park. U14s play home to St Michaels on Monday April 7th at 6.30pm.

St Pat's Joker Jackpot draw was held in Rafters last weekend with no winner of the jackpot which now rolls over to €2700.Winners in the draw were Kenneth Conboy, Rhys Mahon, Tom Mc Cann.Tickets are available from all usual outlets.

Major cycle event take place on Saturday next April 5th in the west Sligo area. St Pat's ask all marshals to meet at the Community Centre at 8.15am sharp to be assigned positions and to get hi-vis bibs.


Mayo All-Star Andy Moran did the honours of presenting the medals to our u14 and u16 teams from last year who won the league and league and championship respectively. The players had a great evening and had plenty of questions for the Ballaghaderreen man who gladly answered.

The senior team had an experimental side out against Geevagh on Saturday last and were defeated by the visitors.

Minors played a rescheduled game against a strong Shamrock Gaels side on Sunday morning.

Best of luck to John Ward who is part of our minor team who fights for a national title this coming weekend in Dublin.

Well done to Keith Frain who took part in the final of North-West's got talent in the Hawkswell on Sunday. Also the Colm Doddy who captained the St.Attracta's Juvenile team in the Connacht A final against St.Nathy's of Ballaghaderreen.

U-14s open their league campaign on Monday 31st at home against St Pats. They play away to St Molaise Gaels on the following Monday 7th at 6.30pm.

U-16s play Ballymote at home on Friday 4th of April at 6.30 in their first league game.

Sympathies to the O'Dowd family in Bunninadden on the recent passing of Kitty whose family are steeply involved in the club.

Also to the Davey family Kiltycreen on the death of Bea grandmother of underage player Stephen.

Calry/St Joseph's

St Farnan's Ladies

The Intermediate team faced Tourlestrane for the second time in a fortnight when they clashed in the first round of the new 11-a-side league at the South Sligo side's home venue on Sunday last. The team take on St. Michaels at home in the same competition on Sunday next.

The U-16's get their campaign off to a start this week with a home game against Curry on Tuesday.

Congrats to Sean and Lorraine Healy on the birth of their twin girls recently.

St Mary's

Our seniors defeated near neighbours Coolera/Strandhill in the Kiernan Cup group stages on Saturday at Ransboro.

The Juniors suffered their first defeat of the season going down 3-8 to 3-10 to Shamrock Gaels in Coola, in the Abbott Cup.

Our Saturday Morning Coaching commenced last Saturday in Kent Park with record numbers attending. Unlike last year we were treated to nice weather as the rain stayed away for the morning and the sun made a brief appearance. In particular it was great to see such a large turnout of boys and girls at the under 6 and Under 8 age groups. A big thank you to all the coaches who helped out last Saturday and we would encourage any parents interested in helping out to please contact Niall Murray Saturday Morning Co Ordinator ( 087 - 2860239) or Peadar Niland Coaching Officer (086 - 1997706 ).

The first Gaelic4Girls session took place on Thursday last with 32 girls being treated to 60 minutes of great fun and coaching in Ladies Gaelic Football. The programme continues for another 7 weeks, every Thursday from 6.15-7.15pm. Further details are available from the programme co-ordinator Pauline Brennan on 0879775654.

Our Ladies had a great win against Owenmore Gaels in the 11 a side competition as we ran out winners 9-7 - 7-6 in excellent performance.


Our Senior men drew with neighbours, Curry, in the Kiernan Cup on Friday night last. The game took place under the lights in Tourlestrane with a final score of 1-13 each.

Well done to the Senior Ladies who recorded their second win of the years in the first round of the 11 a side league in Tourlestrane on Sunday last.

Well done to our U-16 boys who also recorded a good win on Sunday when they overcame Calry/St. Josephs on a score of 2-14 to 0-5.

The first draw of the Lottery Syndicate took place on Wednesday last in Flynns, Aclare. €4,400 in prizes were given out. First out of the draw was Assumpta Kelly (Sligo) with first prize of €1,000. The two €500 prizes went to Paul Murphy, Tubbercurry and Padraig McVeigh.

St Michael's

In a game which was decided on making the most of goal opportunities, our Intermediate team went down to Calry St. Josephs on a score line of 2-7 to 0-8 last Saturday evening.

Our ladies team lost away to St. Nathys in the 11-a-side league by 3-10 to 2-4. Training for the ladies will continue Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 19:00 at the new pitch.

Our Under 14's are away to St. Pats on Monday April 7th, and our minors are away to Ballymote on Tuesday 8th.

Training for under 10's, 8's and 6's continues as usual every Saturday morning from 11:00 till 12:00, and games will be commencing on Wednesday evenings shortly.

The Club extends deepest sympathies to the family of the late Michael Finn of Knockbeg, Collooney.

There were no jackpot winners in our weekly lotto. Numbers drawn on Saturday 29th were 4, 10, 19 and 28. Winners of €50 for match 3 were Michael Conway, Ballintogher, and Denis McCarthy, Cloonelly, Ballintogher. The next draw will be in Flannagans of Sooey next Saturday night for the usual jackpot of €10,000.

Cumann na Bunscol

The Student Coaching Scheme is now up and running in almost all primary schools in Sligo.

Allianz Cumann na mBunscol play their part in funding this scheme by organising a 'Jersey Day' in the schools taking part.

This year, we encourage schools to organise the event before the scheme concludes - perhaps on the 'Blitz Day' or final day of the scheme..

Monies raised may be forwarded to Eamonn McMunn, GAA Administrator and cheques should be made payable to Sligo GAA County Board.

Photographs taken on the day can be forwarded to and/or and a prize for the most colourful / imaginative and creative photo will be awarded.

Our hurling competition is no reaching its concluding stages. Any outstanding games should be played immediately as we hope to run the semi finals and finals before Easter. Players to participate in an exhibition game in Croke Park as part of the All Ireland Semi Final or Final days programme will be selected from participating schools.

Any school entering the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol match report competition should forward no more than three best entries to John Hughes, Geevagh NS principal, by Monday 2nd June. Winners will be announced on Football Finals day which will be confirmed in the next few days.

Sligo Champion
