CT Gaels are Feile champions

The girls from CT Gaels won the John West Feile Peile na nOg Cup for the first time in their short history on Sunday 30th June 2019, at their 3rd attempt after coming up short in 2017 and 2018.

Having won all their group games, they qualified for the Cup Quarter final and played Coolera Strandhill in Drumshanbo on Saturday afternoon in hot conditions. CT came out the winners in a very tight and entertaining match.

CT Gaels went on to their semi-final in Collooney on Sunday in a high noon showdown against Two Mile House from Kildare.

The Sligo girls proved too strong for the girls from Kildare and moved on to the Cup Final in Kent Park in Sligo where they met Cornafean from Cavan.

The final was a real battle and CT Gaels knew they had a huge fight on their hands going in at half time 5 points down.

But CT Gaels were not to be denied their historic moment, digging deep for the last 15 minutes, roared on by a big crowd from Cloonacool/Tubbercurry and winning the match by 5 points.

This is a huge achievement for the CT Gaels club and now their U14 girls prepare for the 'A' championship as National Feile Cup holders.
