Cadden seals victory for Coolera/Strandhill

THERE was late drama at Kilcoyne Park as a late point from Gary Cadden ensured that Coolera Standhill would be this year's Kiernan Cup champions.

Curry's Adrian Marren kicked over a free after just 1 minute of play.

This was then followed by goal from corner forward Brendan Brogan as he looped the ball over Vinny Cadden for an outstanding goal. But Curry wouldn't score for the remainder of the half as Coolera completely dominated throughout all sectors of the pitch.

Niall Murphy got Coolera off the mark on the 6th minute from a free after Gary Cadden had been fouled. The sides were level soon after as Karol O'Neill showed some fancy footwork to flick the ball into Gary Cadden who finished the ball into the left corner of the net.

Coolera at times killed themselves with the wides they kicked in the opening half. However, they did manage to go in at the break ahead after corner forward Niall Murphy kicked four points to give them a four point lead at the interval

Coolera continued where they left off from the restart. Gary Cadden had a goal chance but his effort was saved well by Gary Maye Then Adrian McPartland put Coolera five ahead minutes later . Curry replied with a point from Adrian Marren which was Curry's first point in 36 minutes. The sides then exchangeds scores as four points were now between the sides .

A point from Marren reduced that gap to just three points as Sean Davey became an increasing influence for the South Sligo men.

Adrian McPartland pointed for Coolera after a great run by Conor McDonagh. But three points on the bounce from Brian McDonagh and a brace from Marren had the sides level for the second time in the match. It had looked like McDonagh had grabbed the winner for Curry but Coolera had final say as first Cadden pointed to put the sides level and this was then followed up with winning point from Cadden once more.
