Euro spot possible if we win every game, says Zayed
NEW Sligo Rovers striker Eamon Zayed believes the 'Bit O'Red' can still secure a European place.
But, the former Derry City and Shamrock Rovers frontman has warned: "We need to win every game."
Libyan international Zayed made his home debut in Saturday night's 3-1 win over Athlone Town at the Showgrounds.
On Rovers' European hopes he said: "We're up to 5th place now
"It's going to be a challenge to catch Shamrock Roveres and St Pat's in fourth place but it's one I am looking forward to.
"Yes, we can do it.
"We really do need to win every game between now and the end of the season."
Zayed told The Sligo Champion he is settling in well since his arrival from Shamrock Rovers.
He said: "I've just been moving around a bit in terms of accomodation the past week or so.
"Last Thursday I moved into a new place.
"I'm delighted to be here.
"It's an opportunity and a new challenge.
"I don't want to just see the season out.
"I've come in to play and score goals and that's what I want to do."
Reflecting on the Athlone game, Zayed said: "The first half was a bit strange. We didn't get going at all.
"Second-half we came out and as soon as we got the first goal it opened up a bit more.
"I knew Athlone would come here to defend.
"I was a bit disappointed not to score.
"It would have been nice to score on the home debut.
"However, we won and I am happy with that.
"I'll get to know the lads a little bit more and the way they play during the week and they will get to know me a bit more too.
"Hopefully, I can find the net against Bray on Friday night ahead of another big game against Dundalk."
