Tractor run to raise funds for defibrillator

The Annual Des Flynn Tractor Run will take place in Castleconnnor on Sunday 18th August in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation and the Castleconnor Defibrillator Fund.

Since the first Run in 2013 this event has grown in strength every year with in excess of €23,000 donated to date for the Irish Heart Foundation, the money raised going towards services such as stroke and heart support groups in the West of Ireland helping members gain confidence and self worth after such a traumatic health event.

The Irish Heart foundation supports its members through these vital supports on a weekly basis and heavily rely on funding.

The event was organised to remember a dear and valued member of the farming community in Castleconnor, Des Flynn, who died unexpectedly in 2013 at the age of 46 years and to help raise much needed funds.

The monies raised this year for the Castleconnor Defibrillator Fund will be used to buy a new defibrillator for Stokane Community Park, with this new addition Castleconnor Parish will have a total of four defibrillators, all strategically located with easy access in the event of an emergency.

To date 30 people from the parish have been trained to use them and training will resume again in the autumn.

On the day a monster auction will take place, spot prizes, refreshments, face painting and fun for the kids and GAA on the big screen.

Registration takes place at

Castleconnor Community Centre from 11.30am -1.30pm. €20 per vehicle.

All vehicles of all vintages welcome.
