Took car for a spin without insurance
A 21 year old man who took his new used car for a spin around his housing estate without insurance has been banned from driving for 11 months.
Gez Smith, of Parklands, Tubbercurry, pleaded guilty to driving without insurance or a driver's licence at Parklands Crescent, Tubbercurry on 24th November 2017, before Judge Kevin Kilrane at Tubbercurry District Court last Wednesday 26th September.
Smith also failed to produce an insurance certificate and failed to produce his driver's licence at a Garda station within ten days.
Defence solicitor Ms Laura Spellman told the court that her client had just bought the car and was in the process of applying for his licence and taking the test.
"He took the stupid decision to take the car for a spin around the estate," she said.
Ms Spellman also said Smith was looking for work.
Judge Kilrane convicted and fined Smith €200 for driving without insurance and disqualified him from driving for 11 months.
