Sadness at the passing of Peter
There has been widespread sadness in North Sligo following the death of retired Rathcormac NS teacher, Peter MIlne.
He passed away last Wednesday following a long and bravebattle against illness which became public as he fought to try to get the Government fund a kidney cancer fighting drug, Nivolumab which he finally received in October 2017.
Peter had been battling kidney cancer since 2008.
Despite his illness he became active in raising money for Sligo Cancer Support Centre.
In 2015 Peter climbed Carrauntwohill in Kerry, Snowden in Wales, Scafell Pike in the Lake District in England and Ben Nevis in Scotland for the charity.
Peter said the Cancer Support Centre in Sligo had been "a brilliant resource" for his family.
Peter who lived at Carnduff, Cliffoney passed away peacefully at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Bernie, daughers Sinead and Sarah and son, Ronan.
The late Mr Milne Reposed at the family home on Saturday from with a Humanist Service on Sunday in Canis Major Clayton Hotel, Sligo which was followed by a private family cremation at the Lakeland Crematorium in Cavan.
