Paul needs help in Operation Transformation
Once again Sport Ireland and Local Sports Partnerships around the country have teamed up with RTE's Operation Transformation Programme to encourage people to follow a healthy and active lifestyle in 2019.
This popular TV programme encourages and inspires communities across the country to get active and adopt healthy eating habits.
For the first time ever one of the national leaders is from Sligo with well know business man Paul Murphy from Tubbercurry taking part in the programme.
Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership with support from community organisations have two walks planned as part of the nationwide walks on Saturday 12th January at 11am, one taking place in the hometown of leader Paul Murphy in Tubbercurry while a second walk will take place in Sligo Town.
Sports Co-ordinator Deirdre Lavin is encouraging everybody to lend their support to our leader Paul Murphy by getting involved in a walk of their choice stating; "People of all ages and fitness levels are welcome to take part and in particular it would be great to see families getting involved. The walks are ideal for beginners to come out and give exercise a go".
She added: "RTE will be in Tubbercurry to join Paul on his local walk so let's all show the nation how active we are in Sligo by coming out and supporting our leader".
Tubbercurry Walk: Meet at Town Square, walk start at 11am (warm up 10.45am)
Sligo Town: Meet at JFK Parade, walk start at 11am, (warm up 10.45am).
Operation Transformation is now in its eleventh series and begins this Wednesday, January 9th. A spokesperson said: “We’ll be looking at the positive changes we can make to our lives, by making changes to our diet and exercise routines. Over the course of the series we highlight the ways the people can improve their health chances, by looking at what we do now, in terms of diet, physical and mental exercise can help us to live longer, healthier lives.”
