Money for jam for food producers everywhere

Foodie expert and author Oonagh Monaghan has just published a second edition of her book 'Money for Jam.'

The definitive guide to starting a food business sold so well that the Dromahair based writer decided to bring out a second updated edition.

No stranger to the business community Oonagh is the facilitator of the Sligo Women in Business Network since 2009. This is a network of over 300 women in business based in Sligo and supported by the Local Enterprise Office.

Oonagh says: "Money for Jam provides you with everything you need to know for starting a food business in Ireland, Northern Ireland or Scotland and includes new case studies, updated legislation and details on emerging food trends in an easy to read format."

The book was launched before a packed audience in Sligo's Osta Cafe recently, a food institution in itself.

It is the perfect addition to your book collection or would make a great gift for the aspiring foodie.

Oonagh has been working with food producers for over 18 years, helping them to start up and grow their businesses. She has assisted over 200 food business start-ups ranging from fudge, sausages, bread and cakes to beer and cream liquors, as well as working with many established and developing food businesses, some of whom feature as case studies in the new book.

She explains: "Ever thought about earning money from producing food? Looked around a market or tasted a sample in a local store and thought I could do that...then this is the book for you. It tells you everything you need to know or where to find information to get started."

A graduate of UCD and Sligo IT, Oonagh worked as Manager in the Food Technology Centre in the St Angela's College in 2004.

In January 2008, Oonagh set up Alpha Omega Consultants, based in County Leitrim, where she uses her extensive experience to devise, deliver, facilitate and manage support programmes for a range of SME enterprises, and the food sector in particular.

She is also a food business mentor with Enterprise Ireland and with InterTradeIreland.

In September 2013 'Money for Jam - the Essential Guide to Starting Your Own Small Food Business' was first published by Oaktree Press.

The 2nd Edition was launched on September 15th 2017 and is now available in bookshops nationwide as well as for Kindle. A delighted Oonagh hopes the sales for the second edition go well and she believes the book will inspire a new generation of food producers to take on the challenge of making money from home made grub!
