Jenny Mccudden is the new editor at The Sligo Champion
THE SLIGO Champion has appointed Jenny McCudden as its new editor.
Previously Jenny worked as western correspondent with TV3 News, where, based in Galway, she covered stories along the Western seaboard for a six-year stint.
Prior to that Jenny spent five years in the UK reporting and producing for BBC News in both London and Birmingham.
Jenny began her TV career in Dublin, as one of the original line up of news correspondents for TV3, when the station first aired in 1998.
The Kildare native cut her teeth in local journalism, working for the Westmeath Offaly Independent in Athlone and Midlands Radio 3 in Tullamore.
Most recently, Jenny has worked as a reporter with the Irish Sun. She also worked for the Sunday World.
Jenny joins the team at the Sligo Champion as the first ever woman editor in the paper's 176 year history.
Jenny has strong links to the west – her mother is from Swinford in County Mayo.
An award winning journalist, Jenny is a published author of both fiction and nonfiction.
She wrote, produced and directed a two part documentary called Impact – Tragedy on Irish Roads, based on her book of the same title. The hard-hitting series was presented by Gay Byrne for TV3.
Jenny studied Journalism with French at Dublin City University and also has an MA in Writing from NUI Galway.
