HSE gives assurance on St. John's coffee shop
Fine Gael Senator Frank Feighan has received assurances from the HSE that the coffee shop used by residents and families at St. John's Hospital will remain open.
"The coffee shop has become an important outlet for residents and their families and fears were raised with me by a number of people about the shop's long-term future given the person working at the shop retired at the end of last year.
"I raised this matter with the HSE which confirmed to me that the impending vacancy in the shop is being prioritised.
"The HSE explained that there are also four volunteers providing cover in the shop and advertising continues on an ongoing basis in an effort to recruit additional volunteers.
"The HSE added that the management at St John's Hospital is exploring all options to ensure the shop remains open to operate at its optimum level.
"While the response I received is positive, I will be monitoring the situation to ensure there is sufficient resources to keep this shop open, which provides such a valuable service for residents and their families."
