Another heartbroken colleague paid tribute, saying: "Orla was a bright star, incredibly kind and a great colleague. The last time we spoke was on a boat on Lough Corrib. She was loving life with a g&t, sun shining and wind blowing her hair. She'll be sorely missed and fondly remembered by everyone who knew her."

Orla was remembered as the "best support and mentor" by another doctor.

"She was the best support and mentor one could ask for during that difficult first year. I'll never forget her sending me out to buy stickers to win over the paediatric patients during my GP rotation - Orla always reminded me that simple acts of humanity and kindness were to be prioritised.”

"She always had invaluable wisdom and insight, and would help with any problem be it professional or personal.

"She always put others first. She'll be sorely missed by many, and my thoughts are with her family today."

Another said: She was a beautiful soul with an infectious laugh. I was lucky enough to be a classmate of Orla’s and to get to work with her for a short time in Sligo. A brilliant medic who helped so many in her short life.”
