Enjoy 'The Thrills of Strandhill'

Although he is running two busy Sligo restaurants, Anthony Gray is still coming up with novel business ideas.

The latest sees businesses in Strandhill get together to offer an impressive package for couples.

Titled 'The Thrill of Strandhill' it gives a couples a fantastic taster of what's on offer in the area, in terms of food, entertainment, spa and guided walks.

Anthony explained: "I put the idea together myself as I wanted to showcase what the businesses in Strandhill have to offer and also what Strandhill has to offer.

"It is about bringing business to all in the area."

Along with his restaurant Tra Ban, Shells cafe, Voya and the Strand are some of the participating names.

"There has been a massive response.

"Already there has been 15 couples booked in and it was only launched last weekend.

"It has really gone off the charts.

"It was mentioned recently in the Sunday Independent by food writer Lucinda O' Sullivan.

"How it works is that the couple pay €350 per package.

"They stay overnight in the Strandhill Lodge and Suites.

"The following morning, they go for a surf lesson with Strandhill surf school, then enjoy brunch in Shells, a seaweed bath in Voya, Auriel Robinson of Sea Trails will bring them on a guided walk of Knocknarea in the afternoon.

"Later they will have icecreams in Mama Johnston's, a meal in Tra Ban and then it's on to the Strand Bar, where they can pull their own pint with the owners and enjoy the music."

Anthony said: "There has also been a fantastic response from the businesses involved.

"It is lovely to see it working, the more that come here, the merrier it is for everyone.

"It will run throughout the year, it is a unique adventure, open to couples from across Ireland and abroad.

"We will cater their package to suit their day too."
