Biggest Sligo Camino ever this Saturday
Over 1,000 walkers will take to the roads of Sligo this Saturday as the 5th annual camino race takes place.
The race has grown in popularity since its inception, starting with 100 walkers five years ago to ten times that now.
Walkers will be coming from all parts of the world, with participants coming from as far away as Canada and mainland Europe to walk in the Sligo Camino.
People will be given the opportunity to walk along the stunning Sligo Way, with the event acting as a showcase to highlight Sligo's potential as a walking destination.
The event requires a huge voluntary effort with 90 volunteers giving their time to make sure the event is as successful as possible.
Volunteers will act as walk leaders, road marshals, catering crew and more.
The Sligo Camino takes place with great support from Sligo County Council, local businesses, Sligo Walks and Coillte.
All funds raised from the event will go towards community intiatives in the village of Coolaney.
The event sold out in four days.
