There is a new public location for Ballymote's defibrillator which is accessible round the clock.
Having been located prior to this inside the library, the unit is now situated outside the building.
Cllr Dara Mulvey said it was important that the defibrillator was accessible at all times.
He said: "I am delighted that Ballymote town now has a central location for the defibrillator unit which is accessible at all times 24/7 to the general public having been installed outside Ballymote Community Library.
"Prior to this the defibrillator unit was located inside the library building and not accessible after the building was closed.
"Working in partnership with Sligo County Council and the local community a new CCTV camera and a new outdoor cabinet to house the unit were fitted.
"Defibrillators are vitally important to have in our community and must be easily accessed and this unit in a central location is a great asset for Ballymote and it is very important that people in the Ballymote area know about this unit and its location.
"I would like to thank County Librarian Mr Donal Tinney,Mark Sweeney and Nigel Healy for this initiative," added Cllr Mulvey.
