American Tapestry Chorus and Sligo Gospel Choir will perform at a concert in Sligo Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, July 5th at 7.30 p.m.

The former choir is conducted by Joseph Martin, an accomplished and prolific writer of sacred and secular choral music, whose compositions have been played and sung in venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York City, Constitution Hall in Washington DC, and St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City.

His music has also been sung in hundreds of church services across the US and Canada, and further afield.

Having recently toured Austria and the Czech Republic (and following a performance at Christ Church, Derry, on July 3rd), Martin will bring his songs, including ‘A Call to Joyful Praise’ and ‘Music in the Morning’ to a Sligo audience. His choir on this tour comprises 38 singers from various parts of the United States.

The concert will see Sligo Gospel Choir’s first performance following an extended break. Choirs around Ireland felt the impact of restrictions deeply, and Sligo Gospel Choir has been enjoying a return to the camaraderie of rehearsals over the last few weeks.

Directed by Richard Mitchell, the choir will sing a selection of well-known, joyful and heartfelt gospel songs.

This promises to be an enjoyable night of beautiful, meaningful and uplifting music. Admission is free, and all are welcome.

There will be a retiring collection for the North West Hospice.
