Former Head Chef Alan Barrins of Richard Corrigan's infamous restaurant - Corrigan's of Mayfair, has returned to Ireland after 15 years to his native Sligo to open the doors of Bridgefoot House, along with his brother Paul.
With a distinguished CV that includes periods in Lanesborough with Paul Gayler, Arbutus and Les Deux Salons with Anthony Demetre and the highly acclaimed Rockpool in Sydney, we look forward to the level of expertise that Alan will bring to this new opening on O'Connell Street, Sligo.
Alan became interested in cooking from the age of 10 when he was growing up in Sligo, where his dad had a small café, where Alan helped at the weekends and during summer holidays.
It was called The Helm on the corner of Harmony Hill / John Street
From here, his love of cooking developed and he went to catering college after finishing school. He started his impressive career with a placement in the Lanesborough Hotel in Hyde Park in 2004.
It was here he started as a Commis Chef and worked his way up to a Chef de Partie.
Alan's dream was to return to Ireland to set up a restaurant where everything is bought and sourced locally, that is provenance driven and freshly produced each day.
His ethos is simple; he wants to create delicious, affordable food, that makes people happy and that's what he fully intends to do at Bridgefoot House.
Along with his brother Paul, they will open the doors of Bridgefoot House to the public on Wednesday, July 3rd and Thursday 4th of July from 6 pm where there will be 30% off all Food and Drink on the evening and opening entirely on Friday 5th July at 12 pm.
