€116k funds for tourism amenities
An additional allocation of €116,400 has been given for three key recreational projects in Sligo and Ballyshannon this week.
Deputy Tony McLoughlin said: "This funding is part of €2.2 million nationwide fund for the development of new outdoor recreational infrastructure such as trails, cycle ways and blue ways, as well as the maintenance, enhancement and promotion of existing infrastructure.
"In Sligo, an additional €64,000 has been allocated to Sligo County Council to extend the existing Sligo to Carraroe 'Greenway' along with €38,400 for the development of a new 'Blueway' facility at Lough Gill."
Deputy McLoughlin added: " This funding announced today (Monday) follows on from a similar allocation of over €300,000 made to the constituency in 2017."
The good news is the work is due to begin without delay as deputy McLoughlin said: "I have been in contact with officials in Sligo County Council about these projects in the build up to this announcement and I have been assured by the Council that their shovels are ready to go with for these two projects and I look forward to them being delivered."
