Tour operators meet over Inishmurray concerns
Local boat tour operators held a meeting about Inishmurray island access at the Marine Surveyor's Office in Ballyshannon last week.
The meeting was organised by north Sligo councillor Marie Casserly last Monday 29th April to highlight the ongoing concerns over access to the island.
Since 2018 local boat tour operators have been banned from landing on the island.
Present were Chief Surveyor Jim Snellgrove, Capt. Nick Cantwell, Kevin O'Rourke, Dan Hamilton , Cllr Casserly and local boat tour operator Keith Clarke.
The meeting was reported to have been "positive and productive".
The Council has reluctantly agreed to carry out basic works to improve landing facilities to the island this month, which must be approved by the Marine Survey Office before they will grant access rights to the island to paying passengers once more.
