Thornhill laneway clean up

Sorcha Crowley at meeting of Sligo Municipal District

It's up to the residents of Cedar Drive and Thornhill to clean up two laneways between the estates and Scoil Ursula.

Mayor of Sligo Municipal District Fianna Fáil Councillor Rosaleen O'Grady asked the Council to urgently clean up and upgrade the surface of the laneway between Cedar Drive and Thornhill and the laneway between Thornhill and Scoil Ursula.

But Council official Briain Flynn said such laneways were more usually kept clean by local residents and resident's associations and the Council would only collect and dispose of litter already collected by the residents.

"I'm somewhat disappointed with that," replied Cllr O'Grady.

"Both resident's associations have asked that that laneway be cleaned up. A lot of children use it. There's broken glass there.

"Maybe you might be able to have a look at it in some other guise," she told officials.
