Smiles all round for Fun Fest Day
The HSE Ballytivnan Training Services hosted a Fun Fest day for adults with disabilities at the Knocknarea Arena, IT Sligo recently.
The Festive day was organised by a very diligent group of service users, elected by their peers in January to organise social events within the service. The Events Committee organises the Fun Fest on an annual basis and this year to promote social inclusion the committee decided to extend the invitation to services within the wider Sligo area.
Service users from HSE Ballytivnan Training Centre joined with services users from Rehab Care, Inspire, HSE Cregg Services, Gallagher House Tubbercurry, Cloonamahon and Resource Centre Ballytivnan for a fun day of activities and socialising.
The day started off with an unexpected power outage; the Committee however were determined that the "show" must go on, and so it did.
The first event was a Zumba class led by Instructor Charlene Carty who got everyone energised and in the party spirit.
This was followed with a talent show which gave individuals an opportunity to showcase their talent in music and performing arts.
Service User Shona Nicholson said: "I love our summer party, all the dancing and singing, I just love it".
Next up was Special Guest country music star Paul Kelly who put on a fantastic show for all his fans. Everyone took a break to give the feet a rest and enjoy the food prepared by Cyril & Paula Catering Services. DJ Seamie Mac provided the music as organisers thanked everyone for making the day such a memorable one.
