The shoeboxes are getting prepared and the finishing touches are being put on as they are about to be delivered to children around the world.

Jennifer Irwin and her team of 'Elves' are busy in Ballymote getting the shoeboxes collected.

Last year a total of 6,071 shoeboxes were sent from the generous people of Sligo and Leitrim to children in Kosovo to make their Christmas a little brighter.

Jennifer and a team of volunteers are working hard to get the shoeboxes collected and ready for departure.

She said this year is one of the busiest yet. Jennifer added: "It been going really well, there's been an excellent response. We've been getting piles of them coming through the door. It's hard to tell just yet if it will be higher than last year but it's definitely as good.

"The deadline has been extended until November 25th, so people still have time to get the shoeboxes into us.

"There's been lots of interest once again," she added.

You can call into them in the former Courthouse building in Ballymote with your shoeboxes.
