COMMUNITY Games, silver, congratulations and well done to the under-13 girls Olympic Handball team on receiving silver when they represented Connaught at the National Finals in Mosney, on Sunday, August 28th. The girls played Monaghan in the semi-finals in a quick scoring game, winning 12-6.

COMMUNITY Games, silver, congratulations and well done to the under-13 girls Olympic Handball team on receiving silver when they represented Connaught at the National Finals in Mosney, on Sunday, August 28th. The girls played Monaghan in the semi-finals in a quick scoring game, winning 12-6. They then played Dublin in the finals in a close and fast moving goal scoring game, narrowly losing 12-11 at the final whistle. Team players as follows: Orlaith Devaney, Shauna Kelly, Rachel Kelly, Eimear McDermott, Catherine Tuohy, Gemma O'Grady, Emer Kelly, Caitriona McCormack, Sonya McDermott, Aine Leonard. A party was held in the Folk park on Monday, August 29th for the players and a presentation was made by Cathal Devaney, a parent representative to their coach, Ann Kelly and Sean McDermott for their dedication and hard work throughout the season. A special thanks to the parents, families and friends for their support, and to all the people who contributed generously to the sponsorship for the trip to Mosney.

CONGRATULATIONS and best wishes are extended to all the young people of the area who received their Leaving Certificate results recently. We wish them all the best in their future studies.

COMMUNITY Games: Congratulations to Orlaith Devaney, under-14 Long Puck and Brian Boyd, under-12 Long Puck, who represented Sligo in the National Finals in Mosney, on Saturday, August 27th.

SHAMROCK Gaels: congratulations to the Boys under-14 hurling team who reached the hurling league final held in Shamrock Gaels Park on Saturday, August 20th, but losing to Coolera on the day. Congratulations also to the under-16 boys football team who reached the semi-finals of the championship, beating Ballymone on August 17th, in Shamrock Gaels Park. They play Curry in the semi-finals.

SHAMROCK Gaels: The under-12 club league takes place on Saturday, September 3rd and the under-10 blitz for the Dominic Quinn Cup takes place on September 17th. The club is currently running a draw for two All-Ireland Football final tickets. The draw takes place on Thursday, September 22nd in Niall McDermott's and tickets are now available in local outlets or from any club member. This is an important fundraiser for the club and your support would be appreciated. Club members are requested to return the Sligo GAA Development Draw as soon as possible to Andrew Hannon.
