Maeve would be proud of new map
The late Maeve Walsh always worked to put Tubbercurry on the map.
Now, one of her long-standing ambitions has become reality. The Tourism Sub-Committee of the Chamber of Commerce has just launched a new town map.
Chamber of Commerce representative Roger McCarrick said:
"We're delighted to see the map come to fruition. It's a tourism promotion tool, packed with information about Tubbercurry and County Sligo."
The map was funded by local business contributions.
Local man Jeff Kaye of JDK designed and printed it.
Included is a street map of Tubbercurry, but also information about all the local Festivals.
These include the South Sligo Walking Festival, the Old Fair Day and Western Drama Festival.
Local places of interest are also featured.
Roger said: "Maeve Walsh was instrumental in mooting this idea. A certain amount of work had been done on it in the years prior to her death.
"It was then 'parked' for lack of funds.
"It's great to see the map-which is free- available after all this time."
