CT Gaels are the pride of south Sligo
The CT Gaels club ended their season in style recently when the u14s secured the A2 championship after defeating Eoghan Rua.
This season has been the most successful yet for the club after they won the U12 A League and championship as well as the U16C and the Minor C championship, a remarkable feat for all the players and coaches involved.
This was an enjoyable contest on a perfect evening for football under the lights at Tourlestrane.
Both teams played quality football despite the heavy ground in places.
Avril Boland, Ellen and Fiona Feeney, Leah Duffy and Ellen Maguire stood out for Eoghan Rua.
However CT Gaels had that bit too much quality all over the field and proved too strong for the West Sligo club.
The CT netminder, Orla Croke, pulled off some fantastic saves in the 2nd half after a tight first half saw CT leading by only a single point.
Goals from Eimear Hunt, Cara King, Eimear Gallagher and Ellen Kelleher were to be decisive and the south Sligo club ran out winners on a 4-12 to 3-6 scoreline.
The U14 A2 title is now added to the U12A league and championship, the U16C and the Minor C championships for CT Gaels this season making it their most successful season in their history.
After the season ended on a high with the U12 victory, the club paid tribute to everyone who assisted in such a memorable year for CT Gaels.
They thanked all the various coaches overseeing the teams as well as the many sponsors.
Parents were also commended for their help throughout the busy year.
