Community cafe is set to re-open
A community café is an innovative and exciting venture whereby a local group come together to create their own social space to meet, relax and enjoy home-baked food. In a town or village without a café it can transform community life as neighbours and friends of all ages now have a place to interact and exchange news over a cup of coffee.
Café Fia is the first and only community café in Connacht. It is based in Coolaney, Sligo's tidiest town, in the foothills of the Ox Mountains. Café Fia operates as a pop-up in the Community Centre which is transformed into a bustling and welcoming café.
The café is staffed entirely by volunteers who give an extra warm welcome to customers. The food at Café Fia is 100% home-baked and freshly made.
People in the mid-Sligo area will be delighted to hear that Café Fia will return on various weekends from April to the end of July. The first pop-up on Easter weekend, 15th and 16th April will include an Easter Egg hunt for children on the morning of Saturday 15th. Fia will also open on 22nd / 23rd April and then on 6th /7th, 20th / 21st May, 3rd / 4th, 17th /18th June and 8th/9th , 22nd/ 23rd July. People can keep up to date on openings through the Café Fia Facebook page.
