Charity carwash for city cancer services
A Sligo woman whose family has been affected by cancer has decided to organise a charity event to raise funds for the Sligo Cancer Support Centre.
Mary Flynn explained: ""This was something I felt I just had to do. Cancer has touched all families in some way and I wanted to help raise funds to support the great work being done by NW Hospice, Oncology and Sligo Cancer Support Centre."
Mary's charity fundraiser will involve a carwash and 80's night on August 26th. The carwash event featuring Sligo Gardai and Sligo Fire Service takes place at the Blue Lagoon from 12pm to 4pm and a fantastic 80's night follows at 8.30pm
Sligo Retail Park has donated €500 to the worthy cause. Spokesman Philip O'Brien said: "Almost one in two of the population are affected by cancer in some way.
When Mary Flynn approached us with her fundraising idea, Bannon's - the Sligo Retail Park Management- felt it was a great cause and we were delighted to support such a worthy local organisation who help so many local families."
