Around the districts: Dromahair, Keash-Culfadda, Manorhamilton, Newtownmanor, Riverstown

Dromahair: Darc Park Development AGM. Darc Park Development will be holding our annual general meeting in the Pavilion on Friday, July 5, at 7.30.This is an exciting time for DARC, and we continue to rely on the support of the community. As always, new committee members and ideas are needed, so we encourage as many people from the local community to attend and help us build upon the success we have had to date.

Cemetery Sunday

Cemetery Sunday in Killenummery and Killery: Open air Mass, Rosary and blessing of graves will take place on June 15 at 7.30 p.m. in Carrowcrin Cemetery. Sunday, June 16, at 11.30 a.m. in Killery Cemetery at 3 p.m. in Creevelea Abbey.

Visitation and blessing of graves in Killargue and Cloonlougher; Sunday, June 30, Mass at 2.30 p.m. Newtownmanor on Sunday, August 4, at 5.30 p.m.

Day out in Athlone

There will be a day trip to Athlone - the centre of Ireland, the gateway to the west - on Saturday, June 22. Starting with a guided historical tour of Athlone, three course lunch and time to explore what Athlone has to offer - sightseeing, Seán's bar - the oldest pub in Ireland, the river Shannon, two shopping centres and some fabulous boutiques and shops. Places limited. Bus leaving Manorhamilton at 8 a.m. and Drumkeerin 8.15 a.m. Total cost €50. To book your place contact Evelyn at 087 6626141.

Drumkeerin Bingo

Bingo is now running every Saturday night at 9 p.m. in Drumkeerin Community Centre. Come along and enjoy a great social outing on a Saturday night.

The Depot

Garda Community Information Clinic in the Depot Dromahair every Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. General Garda Services and Information is provided. This is a pilot scheme and its success depend on the support of the public. Use it or lose it.

The Depot Office is open Monday to Friday mornings from 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. Close at 1 p.m. on Fridays. We offer a full range of office services. Photocopying, typing, printing, laminating, binding and internet access. All services available at very reasonable rates.

We are at the early stages of having a new roof placed on Keash Church. Thank you to the Businesses, who have commenced sponsoring the works by making a contribution of €250. These Businesses will be advertised on our Parish Website and remembered regularly in our prayers.

If there are any other businesses (where ever they are located) who would sponsor these works, the parish would be most thankful. Any contributions can be forwarded to parish priest Fr Gabriel Murphy, The Parochial House, Keash, Ballymote, County Sligo made payable to 'Keash Parish'. Any Individual or Business, who can contribute will be most sincerely thanked. This project will bring its challenges but if not done now, it will become more and more difficult to ever do. If you are associated with the parish in anyway, please consider making an offering of some kind (however big or small).

The Ward Family

Well done to Pat Ward and all his family on the opening last Saturday, of the cottage located oneside of 'The Foxes Den'. God willing this will prove a fantastic Tourist attraction in the months and years to come.

Manorhamilton

Meals-on-Wheels

The Manorhamilton Meals-on-Wheels volunteer service is appealing for more helpers in the town area to come forward and assist with its scheme through which dinners are delivered to very worthy local recipients daily early each afternoon.

Anyone interested in volunteering for the Manorhamilton Meals-on-Wheels service is asked to contact Tracey Clinton, Public Health Nurse at 071 9156045. All Meals-on-Wheels volunteers cover a week period on their dinner's delivery rota.

However, there is flexibility among volunteers, which allows cover for a day or so, if a volunteer requires it to be away etc., or volunteers can swap their week rota period around with another volunteer by prior arrangement.

'Nobody's Talking to me'

The National Learning Network Manorhamilton will presents the hit drama 'Nobody's Talking to me' with some special guests in the Bee Park Community Centre on Thursday night, July 27, at 8 p.m.

The doors on the night will open at 7.30 p.m. while the admission prices will be €10 for adults while for senior citizens and children it will be €5. Everyone is asked to please come along and support these wonderful young adults in what will be a great night of song, dance and drama.

Twenty percent of the proceeds from the 'Nobody's Talking to me' show will be donated to Northwest STOP, the Manorhamilton based suicide prevention organisation that provides essential counselling for all members of the community, who require it during a personal crisis period in their lives.

Dip at Dawn

A Dip at Dawn event in aid of the Northwest Simon Community will take place on Friday morning, June 21, at 5 a.m. at Rosses Point beside the Sligo Yacht Club.

Meantime registration for this event is €20 online at Eventbrite/Dip at Dawn or participants can also register for it by phoning 087 7708865. Before the event there will be a short yoga session to start.

Then the Dip will take place led by Sligo Rose of Tralee, Julie Patterson and it will be followed by tea or coffee at Yacht Club. All interested in participating in the Dip at Dawn event are asked to remember 'this is a Dip Not a swim' and to 'sign up today.'.

Special Mass

A Special Mass will be celebrated in the Bee Park Community Centre on Friday night, June 14, at 8 p.m. The Special Mass will ask for God's Blessing for the sick and housebound, as well as for all whose health or mobility is affected in any way. Anyone, who needs transport to Friday night's Special Mass is asked to please phone Gerry at 086 4002739 or the parish priest's House at 071 9855042.

Largy Fun Day

The Largy National School parents' association will promote their ninth annual Family Fun and Sports Day on this Sunday afternoon, June 16, at 2 p.m. in the local Killasnett Pitch.

As usual there will be great fun and games for all the members of every family attending on the day. The Largy National School parents' association invites everyone to 'come along and join in the fun.'.

Belated Thanks

A word of thanks to all who helped to make the Leckaun NS parents' association cake sale such a great success on Sunday, May 26. Special acknowledgement to all those who made the cakes and served the refreshments, but also to the whole local community for supporting the event. Sincere gratitude to all for organising another enjoyable social occasion.

Bingo

Bingo continues on Monday (s) in the function room of the Blue Devon, Dromahair, at 9 p.m. For those of you who are not regulars, it is a great social occasion, as well a fun opportunity to experience the thrill and frustration of getting/not getting the numbers you need.

All lines €30, except games 5 and 10, which are €50; all full houses €100 and last game €200. So why not come along and support your local bingo. Who knows you might be lucky.

Hall Bookings

Newtownmanor Hall is available for booking, by adult groups, wishing to organise an event or training. Hall costs are €15 per Hour.

Riverstown

New Duck Race date

Due to weather conditions Little Buddies Duck Race will now take place on Sunday, June 23, at 2 p.m. on the River Unshin. Ducks will be available from Little Buddies and local shops. Still only €5 per duck. So don't miss out. This is Little Buddies main fundraiser for the year so any support would be greatly appreciated. Excellent prizes, games and entertainment on the day.

Social dancing

Social Dance will be held in Ballintogher Community Centre on Friday, June 14, at 9.30 p.m. Music by Mary Rose and Enda. Fáilte Roimh gach einne.

Church gate colection

The annual county church gate collection in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland will take place in Riverstown and Sooey Churches on Saturday, June 15, and Sunday, June 16. Any support would be appreciated.

Little Buddies AGM

Existing and future parents are invited to Little Buddies annual general meeting which will take place in Little Buddies Creche, Chapel Gardens, Riverstown at 8 p.m. on Monday, June 17. Refreshments will be served.
