Easkey-Dromore West

Community Games

Congratulations to the under-13 girls Rounders team from Easkey, who won Gold at the all-Ireland Community Games finals held at University Limerick. Ten families travelled from Easkey and stayed in student accommodation the night before to prepare for their semi-final against Limerick which they won 15-2 with two innings to bat. In the final they met Wexford and during torrential rain were declared worthy winners also with two innings to bat. A truly memorable day for this bunch of enthusiastic, determined and highly skilled young ladies.

Kathryn Feeney pitches brilliantly all day with only one walk on in the final which enabled the rest of the team to shine. Captain Ciara Colleary and Laura McGuire each got two double outs with fantastic catches in the final. With superb base play from Allanah Clarke and Amber Jade McDonald. Quick on her feet with star catches at home base was Róisín Lang. Elisha Cuffe, Anna Carnegie and Ellie Cowley commanded the outfield positions and subs Kirsten Buick, Maeve Murray and Anna Feeney also making valuable contributions to retaining this title for the second year running.
