Community Games

A fantastic week for our two community games GAA teams. First up was out U12 girls team who travelled to Kent Park, Sligo to play St Mary on Wednesday 5th June.

The girls put together their best performance of the competition so far and ran out convincing winners on a score line of 2-14 to 1-4. The panel at this match was Ruth Foody, Amy Naughton, Rachel Jones, Blaithnaid Carr, Clara Fitzsimmons, Eabha Gordon, Aine McGranaghan, Eva Hallinan, Kate Holmes, Roise Egan, Keeva Flynn, Caoilfeann Geoghegan

The pressure was then on the U10 mixed team who lined out against the same opposition as St Marys visited Castleconnor for the semi final. Again a brilliant display by our team ended in another convincing win on a score line of 5-8 to 2-4. The panel for the U10s was Rachel Jones, Lorcan Healy, Finnan Gavin, Kate Holmes, Eva Hallinan, Corey Crawford, Adam O Connor, Usna Geoghegan, Oran McGranaghan, Oisin Corcoran, Luke Cawley, Geordan McCormack, Oran Gallagher, Cillian Stenson The finals for both teams are in Scarden Centre of Excellence on Tuesday June 18th. The U10 mixed team will play Aughanagh at 6-30 and the U12 Girls will play Riverstown at 8pm. Hopefully the club will come out and support them one more time on their big day.

National School Football

A huge weekend for Corballa National School as both their boys and girls teams play in the 5-7 Teacher School Category County Finals. Both teams will play against Ardkeeran. The Girls throw in at 10-50am The Boys throw in at 12-20pm Both Games are on Saturday June 15th in Tubbercurry. Good luck to all the kids, teacher's ad coaches. Again we encourage club members to get over to Tubbercurry to support the kids.

Our U12 footballers lost narrowly to Calry on Tuesday 11th on a scoreline of 13 points to 11 in a tight encounter. Our U14 footballer's welcomed St Pats on Thursday June 6th and came away with an impressive 5-14 to 3-7 victory. The team on the day was Conor McAloon, Thomas Sheridan, Barry Kilcullen, Neil Rafter, Darragh Stenson, Padraic Gavin, Kevin Rutledge, Eoghan Durkan, Oisin Mullarkey, Fionn Gordon, Matthew Langan, James Kenny, Shane Kenny, Michael Sheridan and Fiachna Egan, Subs used were Oisin Gavin and Rory Kennedy.

Reserve Football

Our Reserve Senior Football team got their 1st win of the season with a hard won 1-17 to 2-10 victory over the visiting Coolera/Strandhill.

Easkey-Dromore West

Exhibition of paintings

An exhibition of paintings by the day centre group in collaboration with visual artist, Amy McGovern, is now on show in the reception area of Easkey Health Centre. The exhibition takes inspiration from the history of the 'Sea Blues', Easkey GAA team and its role within the community. This project was funded by Creative Ireland and Sligo County Council.

Well done Damian

Well done to Damian Kilgannon, Donaghintran, Dromore West son of Geraldine and Tom Kilgannon aged twenty seven who at the regional finals of 'Young Entrepreneur of the Year 'has made the final eight in his category and secured a place in the National @ibye-ie final in Dublin. Damian is the founder of Sula Health and has developed a consumer medical device to assist with circadian rhythm disorders (sleep disorders).

Death

The death has taken place in London of Catherine Calpin late of Easkey. Requiem Mass was celebrated in St James Church, Easkey followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan. Sympathy is extended to her son, daughters, brothers, sisters, inlaws, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Enniscrone Agriculture Show

This year's Enniscrone Agriculture Show will be held on Sunday, July 7, at Castleconnor Sports Complex. New classes and qualifiers have been added to the schedule. Please contact Ashling at 087 7583334 for further information.

Intro To Yoga

Intro To Yoga a programme to improve your physical and mental health in a social setting will be held in Dromore West. Limited places so booking is essential. Sympathy

Sympathy is extended to Lynne Dullaghan Culleens, Co Sligo on the death of her mother Margaret Audin Nephin Drive, Enniscrone. Sympathy also to her son-in-law Gary Dullaghan, daughter-in-law Margaret grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces nephews, relatives neighbors and friends. The remains were removed to McGowan's Funeral Home Ballina Friday, June 7, Cremation took place in Shannon Crematorium in Limerick on Saturday June May 8 she rest in peace.

Silver Jubilee

Congratulations to Fr Michael Gilroy of Carrowhubbock Enniscrone, who celebrated his ordination of 25 years to the Priesthood. He is PP of Templeboy, Co Sligo. We wish Fr Michael many years of health and happiness.

Enniscrone/Kilglass GAA

Our Intermediate team have another important league fixture next Sunday morning at 11 a.m. away to Calry/St Joseph's. Best of luck to the players and management. Please support if possible.

Our Junior B team suffered a 3-14 to 1-12 defeat in Geevagh last Friday. Despite a poor first half, the lads rallied after half-time and showed well at stages. They have no game next weekend their next outing is the following weekend at home to Castleconnor.

Under-14s had a good win over Calry/St Joseph's on Thursday evening at Quigabar, 4-13 to 1-3. They have topped their group and now progress to the knockout stages. Well done, lads. They have a busy time coming up for the Féile.

PeilnanÓg on the last weekend in June we will be hosting the St Manchan's club from Offaly. More details later.

Well done to our under-12 footballers on securing a 0-17 to 0-7 win over Shamrock Gaels on Wednesday evening last in difficult conditions at Quigabar. They play St Pat's on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in Dromard.

Our under-six GAA nursery program starts Monday, June 10, from 6.15 p.m. to 7 p.m. at indoor astroturf in Quigabar. This is for boys and girls born in 2013 and 2014. Can kids wear appropriate gear and bring bottle of water. All welcome.

Best wishes to Michael Duffy and his Sligo minor team including Gavin Duffy and Oisin Hynes in their Connacht Championship match against Leitrim next Friday evening in Carrick-on-Shannon. Good luck also to Eoin Hallinan, Josh Ellis and the Sligo under-20s in the Philly McGuinness Cup final on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Mohill. Congratulations to the Sligo hurlers, who have will play in Croke Park the weekend after next in the Nicky Rackard Cup final after a brilliant semi-final win over Warwickshire last weekend. Best wishes to the team and management in the final.

Skreen-Dromard Community Centre will hold a Seán Davis Four Day Outdoor Fun Soccer Academy on their Pitch there from Monday, July 15, to Thursday, July 18, This Soccer event will run daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to boys and girls aged Five to Seventeen years.
