Ladies' Football Rising Star

Congratulations to Leah Duffy from the Eoghan Rua LGFC on being selected as one of the Connacht Ladies' Gaelic Football Rising Stars 2019. Leah was part of the Sligo's under-16 team who reached the all-Ireland Final this year. She will be presented with her award at the Connacht LGFA awards night in December.

All Star nomination

Congratulations to James Weir from the Easkey/St Farnan's hurling club who has been nominated for an All Star Hurling Award as part of the PwC Ireland GAA/GPA All-Stars event in Dublin's Convention Centre on Friday November1 for his part played in the Nicky Rackard competition which Sligo won this year.

The late Josie Reynolds r.i.p.

The death has taken place of Josie Reynolds, Ballinahowna, Dromore West. Predeceased by her husband Martin she is survived by her son Micheál, daughter Maureen, daughter inlaw Kathleen, son-in-law P. J., grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to whom sympathy is extended. Her funeral Mass was celebrated in the Church of Our Lady of perpetual Succour, Dromore west followed by burial in Churchill Cemetry.

Coláiste Iascaigh

Card game

The Sunday evening card game for the upgrade works in Roslea cemetery will resume in the school beside Easkey Church on Sunday, November 3, at 8.30.

Halloween Spooktacular

The annual Halloween Spooktacular will be taking place in Dromore West Community Centre on Thursday, October 31, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Ideal from tots through to primary school. Face painting, raffle, treats and lots of Spooky fun. Fancy Dress Essential. €3 per child with proceeds going towards Dromore West Playground. All children must be accompanied by an adult or guardian.

Foróige Club starting

There will be a Foróige Club starting in Dromore West. Alan from Sligo/Leitrim Foróige will be coming out to Dromore West Community Centre to talk to all and help with the start up of the club on Friday, November 1 at 7.30 p.m. Interested parents and volunteers are asked to attend to hear more information on the club and also to leave in all registration and vetting forms. Spring Bulb planting event

Ballina Bee Keepers are organising a Spring Bulb planting event at the McGee Hall, Dromore West on Saturday, November 2, at 11 a.m. in memory of the late Tim Birdsall.

Eugene McGrath from Rathlee is a musician and singer song writer, whose main interests are in traditional and folk music, will launch his new album 'Waiting for Morning' on Saturday, November 16, at the Harbour Bar, Pullaheeney.

Christmas Market/Christmas Tree Festival

Easkey's first Christmas Market and Christmas Tree Festival will take place on December 7 to December 8. The Christmas Tree Festival is on Saturday, December 7, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Christmas Market December 8 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. With over 30 indoor and outdoor stalls, there is something for everyone. Community Alert AGM

The Kilglass/Culleens Community Alert annual general meeting will be held on Thursday, November 7, in Sheridan's Bar. The committee will hold a Senior Christmas party on December 8 at 1.30 in the Ocean Sands Hotel. Enjoy a three course meal with music and dancing. Halloween Party

A Halloween Party in aid of Rathlee National School will be held in Easkey Community Centre on Thursday, October 31 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Entry fee €6. Prizes for best costume, best dancer and best carved pumpkin, a disco, games and entertainment.

Tidy Towns

Easkey and Rathlee both increased their points in the Tidy Towns competition this year. To raise much needed funds to pay suppliers Leap will hold a Christmas raffle with lines to buy available in local outlets.

The prizes are a trailer load of turf, a half ton of coal and 20 bales of briquettes. table quizzes and a car treasure hunt is also planned to take place in the coming weeks.

Well done Fergal

Fergal Kilgannon from Dromore West, recently took part in two bodybuilding competitions placing first in PCA first timers category a British organisation which was their first time holding an event in Ireland on September 21and three weeks later he was placed third in under-nine0kg category Irish nationals final RIBBF organisation.

Clothes collection

Easkey Rounders will have a clothes collection on Wednesday, November 6. Please leave bags of clothes at the Old Factory.

Windmill Players

Windmill Players, Dromore West are in rehearsal for their latest production of 'Wanted One Body'. It will be held in Dromore West Community centre on November 29 and 30 and Sunday, December 1, collection thanks.

Race night

Easkey/St Farnan's GAA Club hurling will hold a race night on Friday, November 1, in McGowan's Bar, at 9.30 p.m. to raise funds for the senior team. The team will be selling horses, jockeys, and looking for race sponsors between now and then. Anyone wishing to come forward and support the team contact Christine Kilcullen or Frances Hanley.

Sympathy

The death has occurred of Martin James (Séamus) McDonnell Pier Road, Enniscrone, Sligo. Peacefully at his residence. Predeceased by his beloved parents Agnes and Jim and his brother Seán. Séamus will be dearly missed by his loving daughter and sons, Jennifer, Nigel, James and Rory, his brothers and sisters, Thomas Patrick (T.P), Herbie, Hugh, Brendan, Vincent, Philomena, Ann, Marian, Lucia, Majella, Pauline and Teresa, grandchildren, in-laws, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. May He rest in peace.

Reposing at his residence on Friday, November 1., from four.pm till nine.pm. Funeral will arrive to the Church of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven, Enniscrone on Saturday, November 2., for Mass of the Resurrection at 12.30 p.m. with burial afterwards in St Patrick's Cemetery, Kilglass. Lifting the Silence on Suicide - Everyone at some point will be affected by suicide. We are all part of communities which link us to family, friends, colleagues and/or neighbours.
