Vincent Butler, an expedition leader, archaeologist and photographer based in Newbridge, Co Kildare, published a book, “Sixty Photographs for Simon”, a collection of some of the stunning images he has taken
during his expeditions around the globe over the past two decades, across the Arctic, Scandinavia, Europe, Africa, Asia, South America and the Antarctic. Proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the Simon Community, to help with their work in preventing and resolving homelessness. Vincent donated €8,000 to North West Simon Community to support their work locally. In 2019 the local homeless charity supported 401 individuals in Sligo, Leitrim & Donegal.

Carraroe: COVID19 Virus Impact - In light of the spread of this virus in Ireland and the need to protect our community we are appealing to people to ring neighbours living alone especially elderly/vulnerable to check on any needs like shopping and to assist prevent impact of isolation. Remember to wash hands with basic soap and warm water and exercise proper precautions when coughing etc.

Progressive 25 cancelled

In light of the government advice on addressing Covid 19 Virus the regular Progressive 25 card game is in Carraroe Community Centre each Tuesday night is cancelled until further notice. Please advise all regular card players

Lakeview ICA

It is with regret that the NATIONAL EXECUTIVE BOARD issues this recommendation to all ICA Federations and Guilds due to the corona virus epidemic. The NEB is now issuing a strong recommendation to all Federations and Guilds to cease all ICA activities till the situation improves and we are so notified by public health authorities. All services at An Grianan are suspended till further notice. The NEB will keep the matter under review and will maintain contact through the Federation presidents as the situation evolves and improves.

Cadra AGM

The above annual General meeting took place in Carraroe Community Centre on Wednesday night last with a well-attended meeting. The chairperson Bridie McLean gave a detailed report on all activities during the year and the Joint treasurers Dympna O'Loughlin and Mary Dunbar provided a comprehensive report on the financial situation. The following were elected for 2020 chairperson Bridie McLean, Hon secretary Pat Benson, Joint treasurers Dympna O'Loughlin and Mary Dunbar, Mary Murphy Recording secretary. A general discussion took place on Tidy Towns, Text Alert, Speed Van, Illegal Dumping. A number of positive and interesting suggestions for improvement were put forward for consideration. The meeting was informed unobtrusive recording cameras are now operating in area and Litter Warden will be visiting anyone discovered dumping litter etc. The next committee meeting will be advertised locally in Carraroe Notes and everyone is welcome to come and input to the development of our community.

St Patrick's Day Event Postponed

Carraroe and District Regeneration Association has decided, in interest of keeping our community safe, to postpone the planned event for St Patrick's Day. We will arrange an appropriate event later in year when more information and in light of how the virus issue develops. We appreciate the response to our request to postpone by NWRDATF.

Chair Exercise Update

In light of the recent advice from Government about Covid19 we have decided to defer the sessions on March 18 and 25 and will review again as per next advice issued. The current six-week chair exercise programme in Carraroe Community Centre is now full. We hope it will be a rolling six-week programme and will take bookings for the next six-week session commencing on April 29. The cost is €30 in advance for six weeks or €7 per session on casual basis. We have a What's App Text System for co ordinating each week's session. To join the What's App group telephone 087 2222835. First Holy Communion Talk

This programme will provide Practical steps for all parents to prepare your child for First Holy Communion. Two evenings for the parents in St Enda's School on March 18 and 25 beginning at 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Presented by the Bridge Programme people.

walking Group

Bus Service to Carraroe

We are pleased with the very positive response to our petition and thank all residents who have signed the petition to date. We are planning to close the petition in next few weeks so get in and sign it. It is available in Canning's Store and all committee members.

Text Alert System.

Any member of the Carraroe Text Alert System (Be Alert) interested in receiving their text via the Cairde App are welcome to download the app. Texts to this app are free at moment and will reduce the cost of the text alert system to Carraroe and District Regeneration Association.

Dog Fouling

People walking their dogs in Carraroe are requested to remove fouling please bring home and bin. Recently it was observed an individual left the dog fouling on paths where children walk into school. Pooper - scoopers are available free from Sligo County Council.

Cadra Fundraising

Cadra will have its annual church gate collection on weekend of April 4/5. and the cake sale on Good Friday, April 10, These are our annual fundraisers to support our projects like Text Alert, Tidy Towns, Defibrillators and St Patrick's Day event. Note the dates and your support will be appreciated.

Litter Pickers

Cadra appreciates the dedicated group of volunteers who litter pick each week in Carraroe area. This group keep a close eye on our community and are always watching out for any attempts of illegal dumping. We are always looking for more people to join this team. If you would consider picking your own road we will supply Pickers, Gloves, Bags etc We welcome all residents to assist and would like to see more younger people getting involved in keeping their local area clean and tidy - contact any committee member if you want to get involved.

Spring Clean

Our annual Spring Clean will take place on Saturday morning, April 4, 20 Please keep the date free. More details later.

Slimming World

Carraroe Community Centre hosts Slimming World group each Tuesday 7.30 a.m. and 9.30 a.m. and Saturday 8.30 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. for more information telephone Charlotte at 087 7987118 or just come along, Everyone Welcome. Sean nós Dancing Classes.

DOGS 4 LIFE

HALL HIRE

Our Centre is available for room and hall hire at very competitive rates, and we offer excellent facilities for sports, meetings, parties and social events, including our sports hall, changing rooms with showers etc. Our hall is very popular for sports events, and also for children's parties as it can accommodate a bouncy castle.
