Lough Gill Heritage/Biodiversity Walk
Thanks to Local Authorities Waters Programme Michael Bell Sligo Branch of Bird Watch Ireland will conduct a Heritage Nature Walk on shores of Lough Gill to learn about the wildlife around the Lough on Tuesday, August 20, 19. Meet at Slish Wood car park at 10.30 Free Admission. Join us for a chat on what we can do to support water and biodiversity over refreshment afterwards in car park provided by Dragon Fly Tea or coffee Cart. Tobernalt Holy Well
Fr Jim says Thank you to all who visited and helped out at the Holy Well Ceremonies Garland weekend. Record numbers of pilgrims attended the Sunday Masses. Sincere thanks to our Sacristans, Eucharistic Minsters, Readers, Altar Servers, Collectors. Stewarts and Gardaí, and to all who helped with the setting up of the grounds. Your help and support is appreciated.

Cigarette butts cause litter
We are appealing to people not to dump their cig butt ends on our roads as they cause a white piece of paper left for volunteers to pick.
Lough Gill Tour
Carraroe and District Regeneration Association wishes George and Tina every success and best wishes operating from the new Doorly Park area. The schedule sailings each day are Parkes Castle 12.30 and 3.30 p.m. and Doorly Park 1.30 p.m. This is a wonderful tourist attraction in Sligo and brings access to Lough Gill and it association with Yeats to the people of Sligo and wider community. Well done to all involved.
Community Enhancement Grant
Carraroe and District Regeneration Association made an application under the above scheme and has been awarded a €1,000 grant by Sligo County Council to assist us provide a number of bench seats for our community. We will be organising to purchase and install in next few months and hopefully will assist our community have a rest on their walks around our area.
Carraroe Walking Group
Our next walk is on Monday, August 12, in Doorly Park. We will meet at Rowing Club Car at 10.50 a.m. with walk setting off at 11 a.m. for one hour. Mary Murphy will lead us on the walk and we will relax for our refreshment in Riverside Hotel. There is a What's App Text system in operation to update people each Sunday on meeting venue etc. Anyone not currently in the group is welcome to contact 087 2222835 or any member of the existing group to be added. Please encourage anyone that may be interested to come join us to boost your overall health, connect with your local community and most importantly have fun.

Wall at ESB Power Station Cuilbeg
Cadra is working with ESB networks over the past number of years. Work is scheduled to commence in next few weeks and will make this area much more presentable. We appreciate the assistance of the Regional Manager ESB Networks for assisting with the project.
The Carraroe community says special thanks to all our regular litter pickers who walk all our roads each week and keep the place looking so well. Remember many hands make light work. Anyone willing to pick on their own road is welcome to get involved; we will supply plastic bags, picker, gloves and Hi-Vis. The bags can be left at the dedicated location at Community Centre each Monday evening or early Tuesday morning for collection and disposal.
Please note the Defibs are located at Community Centre and Community Field Clubhouse. The code is posted beside the machine. Please be aware CCTV is in operation.

Family fun day
The Cranmore Co-Op Family fun day will be held on August 10 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Dreamchasers Childcare Service at Merville have morning places for Pre-School Children under the EECE Free Preschool Year Programme available for September 2019. The Early Childhood and Education programme (ECCE) provides children with their first formal experience of early learning before they start primary school. The programme is provided for three hours per day, five days per week over 38 weeks per year. The ECCE term runs from September to June each year. Children are eligible for two full programme years of ECCE. Children must be at least 2 years and 8 months of age by August 31st of the year of entry to the programme. Merville Community Centre facilitate on behalf of our Community the provision to eligible persons of Social Monitored Pendant Alarms, under the Seniors Alert Scheme that is administered by POBAL. Equipment Funding is available for eligible persons over 65 years for the installation of an monitored alarm on a landline in the persons home.
The Alarms are now available Persons age 65 or older and living alone, living with another person who meets the terms and conditions, living alone for significant periods of time during the day, or is a carer to someone else in their household.
