Fr Leonard Taylor, Easkey celebrates the 60th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood this year and a special Mass will be held in Easkey Church on Saturday, June 15, at 8 p.m. followed by refreshments in the community centre. A special invitation is extended to the whole parish to join Fr Leonard for this special Mass and celebrations.
Exhibition of paintings
An exhibition of paintings by the day centre group in collaboration with visual artist, Amy McGovern, is now on show in the reception area of Easkey Health Centre. The exhibition takes inspiration from the history of the 'Sea Blues', Easkey GAA team and its role within the community. This project was funded by Creative Ireland and Sligo County Council.

The late Teresa O'Brien
The death has taken place of Teresa O'Brien, Carrowmacbrine, Rathlee. Her remains were removed from McGowan's Funeral Home to Rathlee Church, burial took place in Roslea Cemetry. Teresa was predeceased by her husband Martin, daughter Peg, sons John and Gerry. The death has taken place of Paddy Carr, Cabra, Rathlee in his 91st year. His remains were removed to Rathlee Church for Requiem Mass followed by burial in Roslea Cemetry. The Intermediate: Our Intermediate team played out a 0-10 to 1-7 draw with St John's in Division Two of the league last Sunday in Carraroe. On a windy afternoon, our lads trailed 0-6 to 0-2 at the break having played into the breeze in the opening half but started the second half poorly and failed to capitalize on their wind advantage. However, a wonderful Robert Jacob goal in the closing stages put the lads in front, 1-7 to 0-9, but St John's equalized as the game entered injury-time. There is no league action next weekend.
Junior B: Our Junior B team produced an encouraging display to end as comprehensive 2-17 to 2-3 winners over Owenmore Gaels in their opening league fixture last Friday evening. This coming Friday, the lads take on Geevagh away at 8 p.m.
Our under-16s lost out to Castleconnor in their shield semi-final on a scoreline of 4-13 to 1-8 last Monday at Quigabar.
Our under-14s host Calry/St Joseph's on Thursday evening from 7 p.m.
County scene: Well done to Michael Duffy, Gavin Duffy and Oisin Hynes on the Sligo minors excellent 0-16 to 0-12 win over Mayo on Friday. Eoin Hallinan was a second half substitute for the Sligo under-20s who qualified for the Philly McGuinness Cup final following a 1-12 to 0-13 win over Longford. Best wishes to the Sligo hurlers too they will hope to continue their encouraging progress when they take on Warwickshire in the Nicky Rackard semi-finals this weekend.
