Banada-Tourlestrane - Kilmactigue Parish Defibrillator Group: The latest edition of those trained in CPR/AED is circulated with the newsletter in all churches during Christmas. Please give a copy to a neighbour who may not get one. Anyone, who did not receive a copy can collect one in Kennedy's shop Aclare.
Training in CPR/AED will recommence in January - please contact any of the instructors if interested or leave a message at 087 4570130.
Drummartin Indoor Country Market (9km from Tubbercurry out on the Ballina Road besides Joe Dan's Pub) is open from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. every Saturday. Along with the usual great selection of local produce and crafts they are also introducing 'zero waste' rice, oats and flour - bring your own container and pay by weight. Lough Key shortlisted again
It's an exciting time for Lough Key Forest Park with news that the venue has been shortlisted in yet another awards ceremony. The park is listed, along with four other locations for 'Ireland's Favourite Adventure' in the Irish Independent 2019 Reader Travel Awards. The four others are Bray to Greystones Walk, Carlingford Adventure Centre, Castlecomer Adventure Park and Waterford Greenway. The winners will be announced on January 19 on independent.ie and in the 'Weekend' magazine in the Irish Independent.
The latest awards shortlist comes following news that the Boyle Park is also a finalist in the Irish Tourism Industry Awards 2019. The park will contest the 'Best Ireland's Hidden Heartlands Tourism Experience' category in those awards with the winners being announced at a ceremony in the Clayton Hotel in Dublin on February 1.
'I'm a Celebrity'
Excitement is building ahead of next year's Boyle GAA organised 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here' fundraiser. The event will take place on Saturday, March 16, in St Joseph's Hall. 24 contestants will battle it out to see who is the 'King or Queen of the Jungle'. The main sponsor of the night is LandEscape Pty Ltd, the Australian company run by Boyle man Pádraig Sweeney.
Based on the popular TV show, this event is unlike anything you have seen before. Contestants are fully dressed in their campsite costumes and compete alongside live snakes, reptiles and spiders surrounded by a jungle background.
Voice of Hope II
Tommy Fleming will bring his 'Voice of Hope II' tour to Boyle next summer, with a very special concert on Sunday, July 21. Tickets for his performance in St Joseph's Church, Boyle are on sale now from Taylor's Jewellers, Bridge Street and Úna Bhán, beside King House.

GAA club AGM
The club AGM will take place in early January having been recently postponed, due to bereavement. Congratulations to Bart Barrins, who was elected as Sligo PRO at the county convention.
Walk January 5 is Union Woods, easy terrain, track trail and length three hours. All walks subject to change pending weather conditions and all walks start from Enniscrone Tourist Office at 9.30 a.m. unless stated otherwise.
Social bridge club
This takes place at the Diamond Coast Hotel every Wednesday night commencing at 7.30 p.m. We wish our members all the best for the New Year. The club will resume play on January 9.
Enniscrone Library invites all of the family to read pages of a picture book that are displayed along the hollow at Enniscrone beach. It starts beside the lifeguard tower. The book currently displayed is the Night before Christmas. A different picture book will be displayed here monthly.
No winner of the €4,000 when the draw took place on Saturday, December 22. Numbers drawn were 10, 16 and 29. €25 winners were Goretti Williams, Mickey Bourke, Liam Cawley and Donal. Next Weeks draw will be held in McNultys bar Enniscrone Saturday, January 6. The jackpot will be €4,200.
Enniscrone Kilglass GAA
Our underage pre-Christmas coaching concluded with an excellent workout with Liam Og Gormley. Thanks to all our coaches, parents and players for their great efforts over the past five weeks, with significant improvement in skill levels. We'll notify parents of a resumption in activities on the coaching front early in the New Year.
DJ visits - Kilkenny legend DJ Carey visited Quigabar last Saturday as he attended a coaching session and the end of year presentation for Western Gaels Hurling Club. Well done to everyone involved in the club on a lot of progress in 2018 here's to an even better 2019.
County Board - Congratulations to club chairperson Declan Rouse on his election as Sligo GAA Vice-chairperson last Wednesday evening at the annual convention.

The death has taken place on December 20 of John Smith, Ballyhaise - brother of Breege Corcoran, Seefin. Sincere sympathy is extended to Breege and all the family on their bereavement. May he rest in peace.
The Women's little Christmas black dress ladies lunch is on in Kilronan Castle on Sunday, January 6, in aid of North West Simon Community, the local homeless charity.

Bingo takes place every Friday night in Gurteen Hall at 8.30 p.m. Jackpot is €1,700 in 45 calls and the lotto game is €200 Proceeds goes to the upkeep of the hall and the local Eastern Harps GAA Club.
Save Gurteen PO
Gurteen 'Save the post office' committee held a public meeting in Gurteen Hall on last Monday night and a large crowd came out despite the bad weather. There was a presentation of what the committee had done up to now which is very impressive and was followed by a question and answers session with members of the audience. People donated money to the fund to defray outstanding costs and there will be buckets in the local businesses so everyone can help in the campaign to keep the post office in Gurteen.
All the many customers of the PO are advised to keep using all the facilities there and avail of Christmas All four One gift cards etc. The committee are looking forward to good news in the new year.

Keash NS Nativity Concert
The children from Keash NS held their annual Christmas Nativity Concert in the Church of St Kevin's Keash on last Thursday. They were simply brilliant. Well done to everyone and especially the Teachers. A further well done to all associated with the School (and in particular the Teachers) in having received such wonderful and glowing comments on foot of a recent school inspection.

First Responders Go Live
The Community First Responder Group Go Live with the National Ambulance Service this Sunday, December 16, The group will respond to 999 calls for people suffering cardiac arrest, chest pain or stroke within the Keash, Culfadda and surrounding areas. It is very important that you know your Eircode and keep it in a visible place within your home in order for the Ambulance Service to direct the First Responders to your house should you need them.
Two new defibrillators and storage boxes were purchased for the group from the proceeds of tractor run in November. One defibrillator is located on the Ballymote/Gurteen road on the wall outside Colsh's house and the other on Culfadda/Gurteen road on the garage of Seán Gallaghers house. Both boxes are unlocked.
We done to everyone involved in having our churches looking so beautiful for Christmas and indeed everyone involved in the wonderful Christmas ceremonies. Please bring your children to see these cribs in the quietness of the church at Christmas.
The Offertory Envelopes for 2019 are available for collection in both churches. Everyone, who contributed to the upkeep of the parish is thanked most sincerely. If anyone is new to our parish and would like to contribute to the upkeep of the parish, please let Fr Gabriel know.

Used Stamp Collection - A box is provided at the back of both churches for used stamps which are sent to the missions. (please ensure that when removing the stamps that they are not damaged).
