Congratulations to all our local competitors who represented Ballymote and Sligo in the first National Finals in Limerick on May 25 and 26. We were represented in Gymnastics by Saoirse Ivers Brehony and Tara Howard, Art by Kieran Devanarayana and Kevin Devanarayana, Model Making by Sean Woods, Mixed Distance Relay by Lesley Ann Sweeney, Swimming by Amalie Hannon and Project by Kevin Devanarayana, Amalie Hannon, Molly McMahon and Claire Walsh. It is a big achievement to get so far in these competitions and we were rewarded with medals in U12 Art with Gold for Kevin Devanarayana and U16 Model Making with Bronze for Sean Woods. Well done to everybody and many thanks to all of their parents for making the long journey South!!
Michael's CD raises funds for Cystic fibrosis
Michael Golding, who now lives in Ballymote recorded his first sixteen track CD Back To Castleblakeney last year, and the launch of the CD took place in Gormley's Corner House on December 16, 2018.
Michael presented the charity Cystic Fibrosis Galway Hospital Project with €9,500 from the sales of the CD at a presentation night in Castleblakeney, Ballinasloe on Saturday night, June 1.
Michael would like to thank the people of Ballymote and Tubbercurry and surrounding area for their support for a very worthy cause.

Cookery, Nutrition and Mindfulness Classes for Parents: Parents, are you tearing your hair out trying to come up with new food ideas for your children? We are holding a course in June that will tackle the area of picky eaters, and how to meet their nutritional needs through introducing small tastes of new foods. Participants will also be invited to a nutrition talk by Gabriel McSharry on June 11, and take part in a group mindfulness session. Defibrillator Group Fundraiser
Ballymote defibrillator group are holding a monster fundraising raffle in the Coach house hotel on Friday, June 14, at 9 p.m. Over 30 fantastic prizes to be won including a hotel and meal voucher, tablet, bog oak clock, lots of gift vouchers, hampers, bottles of whiskey and some unique prizes. Raffle tickets only €5 and are available from any committee member (contact 087 9759762). We are also raffling two Celtic FC home match tickets on the night. Their will be a DJ and finger food. Father's Day Lunch
Rathbarron Parish Coolaney are holding their annual Father's Day lunch on Sunday, June 16, at the Coach House Rathbarron. As the SuperValu National Tidy Town's Competition started on June 1 we are encouraging all residents of Coolaney and Rockfield to #makeithappen and 'Pick up one piece of litter a day'.
Mother Baby Group
The mother baby group meets in the Tubbercurry Family Resource Centre every Wednesday from 10.30 a.m. The group is informal, and mums come for a chat and a cuppa. On occasion activities take place or guest speakers are invited to talk to the group on topics of interest. A warm welcome awaits.
Community Park Fundraiser
As part of the fundraising effort for the Coolaney Community Park and to pay off the €80,000 loan, a new fundraiser has been launched called 'Lamb for Coolaney Community Park' where local farmers are being asked to donate a Lamb. Foróige Club is for secondary school youths aged 12 to 18. The club takes place every Friday evening in the Coolaney Community Centre.
Card game takes place in Killoran Community Centre on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. and in Ballinacarrow Community Centre on Thursdays at 9 p.m. All are very welcome.
Coolaney Women's Group Meetings continue in Coolaney Community Centre Thursdays at 10.30 a.m. The interactive classes include activities, occasional days out and professional people to give talks and classes. New members are very welcome. Open to all ages.
Junior Youth Group
Meetings are every Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Coolaney Community Centre for Youths between the ages of 12-15.

A table quiz will take place on Saturday next, June 15, in the Hill Hotel, Gurteen at 9 p.m. - teams of four - €40. Proceeds will go to Gurteen Games Company and playground.
There are currently a lot of work taking place - car park - zip line etc which adds extra insurance costs so please organise a team and take part.
Welcomed in the Sacrament of baptism on last Saturday week was Ella Marissa Rushe daughter of Laura and Joseph Rushe, Cois Na hAbhaiinn, Gurteen a sister to Joshua and John Michael.
Fr John Doherty, Charlestown former PP of Gurteen will celebrate his 60 years of Ordination on Friday, June 21, with Mass of Thanksgiving in Charlestown Church at 7 p.m. Reception afterwards in the CBD Sports Complex. Bingo takes place every Friday night in Gurteen Hall at 8.30 p.m. with great prizemoney. Proceeds are shared with the Hall Committee for the upkeep of the hall and Eastern Harps GAA Club. Support is greatly appreciated.
At the recent Local Elections held recently Gurteen County councillor Paul Taylor was re-elected with a massive vote. Well done Paul and best wishes to you for the future.
Congratulations to the McGrath family from Killaraght, who picked up an all-Ireland Title recently in the Culture Corner Talent Show section of the Community Games national final. Well done to Colin, Anna, Shauna, John and Aoife and their parents Annette and Kevin - they attend weekly classes at the Coleman Music Centre Gurteen - and are all members of Craobh Coleman Branch of CCE.
At a recent meeting of the board of Directors of the Coleman Centre. Gurteen there were votes of sympathy expressed and a minute's silence on the death of the late councillor Margaret Gormely, who was a director for almost 20 years. She will be sadly missed. May she rest in peace.
