Ballinacarrow: Coffee morning/sale - You are invited to a cake sale, tea and coffee morning and Bring and Buy Sale which will take place in Ballinacarrow Community Centre on Easter Sunday morning, April 21, after 9.30am Mass.
This event is being organised by Tara Dallat, a local student who will be volunteering in Africa during the summer and all proceeds from the sales go to Volunteer Eco Students Abroad (VESA) program. Donations, cakes or items for bring and buy sale would be greatly appreciated and can be left to Tara, Celene or Bernadette White on or before Easter Sunday or by contacting 086 6064447.
A fun community get together morning is guaranteed, where tea and coffee will be served, prizes to be won, face-painting and even the Easter Bunny might be hanging around.
Sympathy is expressed to Collette Faney and family, Finlough, on the recent death of her brother Luke Hannon, late of Dublin and Gurteen. May he rest in peace.
Ballinacarrow Development and residents will hold a litter pick in Ballinacarrow and approach roads on Good Friday. Meeting at the community centre at 11.30 a.m. where bags and gloves will be distributed. Please come out and get involved in your community and lend a helping hand.

'Cash for Clobber'
Owenmore Gaels 'Cash for Clobber' initiative is running for the next couple of weeks, still time to clear out unwanted clothes, bed clothes, curtains, shoes and bags. Items can be dropped into the clubhouse.
Card games take place every Thursday night in the community centre, Ballinacarrow, at 9 p.m. Everyone welcome.

Féile Peile na nÓg
Féile Peile na nÓg will be hosted throughout Connacht from Friday, June 28 to Sunday, June 30. Owenmore Gaels are delighted to have our under-14 girls and boys' teams participating and also to be hosting teams from Co. Antrim and Warickshire, UK.
We are looking for additional host families for girls and mentors, so if you are in a position to host two girls or a mentor over the weekend, provide a bed and breakfast, they will be gone all day to games, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
As there will be a number of visiting families we are also compiling a list of B and Bs in the area so if you would like to be included please contact Owenmore Gaels as soon as possible.

The death took place on Friday April 5 of well known Independent County Councillor Margaret Gormlye, Bunninadden. News of her untimely passing was received in Gurteen area with shock and deep sadness.
She was a most popular and hardworking councillor and served South Sligo for thirty nine years - at all times giving of her best to help all. She was a director of the Coleman Board of Directors in Gurteen for many years always doing her best to advise, and get whatever assistance she could to advance the Coleman Music Centre.
She will be sadly missed and deepest sympathy is extended to her brothers Brendan and Liam, sisters-in-law Anita, Marie and Muriel, nephews, nieces extended family and many friends. May she rest in peace.
The death took place in Edinburgh on Saturday last of Ian Shanley husband of Maura (née Hannan) a native of Kilfree, Gurteen. Sincere sympathy is extended to Maura and family on their bereavement. May he rest in peace.
The death took place following an accident on March 31 of Lynn Browne née Keeley, Clogherhead and Drogheda - she was niece of Dermot Keely, Gurteen. Sincere sympathy is extended to Dermot and family and to all her relations and friends. May she rest in peace.
Bingo takes place every Friday night in Gurteen Hall at 8.30 p.m. Jackpot is €3,200 in 48 calls and the lotto game is €300. Proceeds goes to the upkeep of the hall and the local Eastern Harps GAA Club.
Post Point Services
The Post Box has been relocated by An Post to Tansey's Centra, which has Post Point for stamps, pay bills, TV Licences. Centra staff can assist customers with ATM transactions etc. - they are very helpful to people who are trying to come to terms with the closure of the post office. Mass cards which were previously at the post office are now available at Centra.
My Old Hometown Country Music Festival takes place on the May Bank Holiday weekend in Gurteen from May 2 to May 5. A full line up from Thursday till Sunday. Tickets now on sale from Teach Murray, Centra and Crossbar.

Easter Egg Hunt
Sligo Folk Park, Riverstown will be holding an Easter Egg Hunt on Tuesday, April 16, Wednesday, April 17 and Thursday, April 18 from 12-3pm. €10 per child. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Activities on the day will include an Egg Hunt, Arts and Crafts, Easter Biscuit Decorating. Take a train trip around the grounds of the Park and visit the new attractions: wishing tree and fairy village.

Riverstown Community Games Athletics Finals will take place on Sunday, May 19 in Riverstown Community Park. The day's events will start with a Fancy dress parade leaving Homeland Store in Riverstown at 1.15pm. This will be followed by athletics finals in Community Park at 2pm and medal presentation. Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others
Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others is a fun, non competitive group that meet every Monday from 8pm to 9pm to play Gaelic Football. No experience is required but you need to be over 25. The group will be starting back on Monday, April 8 and new members are always welcome.
Little Buddies will be running a 4 day Easter Camp from April 15 to April 18 from 10am to 2pm. There will be activities, fun, games and many egg-cellent surprises for children between 5 and 12 years old. Price is €78 and must be paid in advance of camp. Each child should bring a packed lunch.
