Ballinacarrow: Thank you. Frances O'Grady, who is the lead nurse travelling with a group of special needs children to Lourdes as part of the Irish Pilgrimage Trust would like to sincerely thank everyone that helped with her recent cake sale fundraiser in Ballinacarrow.

To the many people who baked lovely cakes and treats, to everybody that donated spot prizes for the raffle, to the people that helped out on the night with the selling and tea and coffee, the committee of Ballinacarrow Community Centre for the use of their great facility and to every person that attended on the night and bought items or give donations.

To date Frances has raised €1,000. If anyone still would like to donate to help defray the costs of bringing a child on this trip they can contact Frances directly at 086 3663595.

'Cash for Clobber'

Owenmore Gaels are running a 'Cash for Clobber' drive for the month. Items wanted; Good quality clothing; Bedding; Curtains, Shoes (pairs) Handbags. No soiled items, Duvets or pillows. Items can be left into the clubhouse or contact a club member for collection.

GAA Nursery programme

The Owenmore Gaels Nursery programme for four- to six-year-old's continues every Wednesday evening in the Teeling Centre, Collooney.

Gaelic4Girls starts at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, at Owenmore Gaels Ground, Collooney for 12 weeks. Open to girls aged eight to 12 years who are not registered with a Ladies' Gaelic Football Team. It introduces girls to football in a fun environment. Participants get a G4G jersey and certificate on completion. Cost for entire programme is €10. Card games

Card games continue every Thursday night in Ballinacarrow Community Centre at 9 p.m.

Congratulations to our gymnasts Tara Howard under-11 and Saoirse Ivers Brehony under-nine who both won gold in Co Sligo Community Games Finals recently, they will go forward to represent Ballymote and Sligo in the national finals in Limerick in May. Congratulations also to Leslie Ann Sweeney, who came second in the 400m of the mixed distance relay in Cleveragh recently, she will also go forward to represent Sligo at the national finals as part of the girls under-12 Mixed Distance Relay team.

Twins baptism

Comhaltas collection

At the recent Comhaltas church gate collection taken up at Killavil on Sunday 17h February a total of €94.60 was collected. This will go towards the festival in August. Many thanks to all who contributed and to the collector Owen.

Clothing collection

Scoil Chroi Naofa parents' association will hold their annual clothing collection on Monday, March 11. Volunteers will be available after Bunninadden Mass on this Saturday evening ninth and Sunday, March 10, to collect unwanted clothing items including end of life clothes. Your support is greatly appreciated.

50th wedding anniversary

Congratulations and many more years of wedded bliss to Eugene and Joan Killoran, who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary recently.

Card game takes place in Killoran Community Centre on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. and in Ballinacarrow Community Centre on Thursdays at 9 p.m. All are very welcome.

Women's Group

Coolaney Women's Group Meetings continue in Coolaney Community Centre Thursdays at 10.30 a.m. The interactive classes include activities, occasional days out and professional people to give talks and classes. New members are very welcome. Open to all ages.

Junior Youth Group

Meetings are held every Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Coolaney Community Centre for Youths between the ages of 12-15.

Retirement party

A retirement party for Jimmy Casey - to thank him for years of dedication to maintenance of the sportsfield, the walkway-painting all the posts and the new roadway verges - will be held in Teach Murray on this Saturday, March 9, at 9 p.m. There will be finger food, enjoyment and music as we give due recognition to Jimmy.


On this Saturday night, March 9, Back West Band will perform in concert at the Coleman Music Centre, Gurteen at 8.30 p.m. This a four piece comprising of young vibrant traditional musicians including Brendan and Maureen Browne on accordion and fiddle - there will be singing and dancing and a good show is promised.

Keash Defibrillator

The Defibrillator which was at Mac's pub is beyond repair. There are still Defibrillators at Higgins' and Seán Gallaghers house on the Culfadda to Gurteen road. Further information to follow shortly.
