Avalon Centre - Wednesday Welcome Club: Calling all over-50s in the County Sligo area. The Wednesday Welcome Club is a brand new, exciting programme starting in the Avalon Centre in May. The club is a space for people over 50 to meet up, enjoy a cuppa and have a chat in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. You can also take part in a range of workshops and activities-or just watch.
The first six-week programme starts on May 1 at 10 a.m. and runs till 1 p.m. and includes the following two workshops-Sing your heart out. and dance for the hell of it. Membership is very limited so sign up today. A contribution of £50 is required.

Easter Camp Fully Booked
Our Easter Camp is now fully booked. Registration for the camp is on Monday, April 15, from 9 a.m. to 9.45 a.m.
Our Parent and toddler group will be closed from Monday, April 15, to Monday, April 22, Bright Minds.
Our Bright Minds Pre-School will close for the Easter holidays from Monday, April 15, to Wednesday, April 24, and will re-open on Thursday, April 25, Our Bright Minds School Age Child Care will close from Monday, April 15, and will re-open on Monday, April 29, Bright Minds Pre-school operates from 9.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. and the Bright Minds School Age Child Care from 1.30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, September-June. Bright Minds are providers of the ECCE and Community Childcare Subvention Schemes, offering free Preschool spaces and subsidised school age child care spaces for eligible families. A limited number of spaces are still available in our pre-school. We are now taking enrolments for September, 2019. Social Day Centre
Our social day centre provides older adults with improved quality of life through opportunities for socialising and lifelong learning. It also provides them with a place to engage with their peers and promotes inclusion and integration of older people in the life of the community. The centre also aims to improve the mental health and well-being of older adults and to combat feelings of loneliness and isolation.
The social day centre runs four days per week, Tuesday to Friday from 9.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Contact the centre for further details. The programme is funded by the HSE and by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection.
Seniors Alert Scheme
The Avalon Centre are providers of the Seniors Alert Scheme. The Seniors Alert Scheme provides grant support for the supply of monitored personal alarms in the form of pendants or wrist watches that enable older people to continue to live securely in their homes. The grant covers the cost of the equipment and its installation.The first year of monitoring is free and will be €60 per year thereafter. The annual St Anne's Hunger Lunch in aid of South Sudan will take place on Wednesday, April 17, from midday to 2 p.m. in the Avalon Centre. Please support.
The Avalon Centre Bowling Club meets every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the centre. All are welcome-just call in on the day.
Bingo takes place every Friday night from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Double books cost €15, single books €10, half books €5 and single sheets €1. There is also a raffle on the night.
Our junior and senior youth clubs will close for Easter from Monday, April 15, and will re-open on Monday, April 29, Our junior youth club (6-9 years) meets on Monday and Wednesday from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and our senior youth club (10 to 14 years) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Would you like to volunteer at the senior club? Volunteers would be required to supervise and take part in various activities such as sports, dance, snooker, table tennis and baking etc. with participants. Carney Lissadell 10K
The annual Carney Lissadell 10k Road Race and Walk takes place on Easter Monday, April 22, Entry €15 online with runireland.com or €18 on the day at Oxfield. Registration on the day starts at 9.30 a.m. followed by Kids Fun Run at 11 a.m., 10k Walk at 11.30 a.m. and 10k Run at midday.
History of Oxfield Centre

Carney Tidy Towns
The annual An Taisce Spring Clean will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on April 13 in Carney. Young and Old meeting at the park where bags, bibs and gloves will be given to all volunteers. Any time you can spare to help will be much appreciated. Light refreshments for all afterwards.

Good Friday 5K run
The Grange Good Friday 5K Run starts at 7 p.m. with registration starting at 6 p.m. in Grange Sports Complex. Entry is €12 for adults and €5 for children. In aid of friends of Sligo Hospital.
Active 60+ fitness class
SFX Sports and Fitness, Rathcormac are holding a moderate intensity class for the 60+ age group every Tuesday at 11 a.m. The class will focus on mobility, flexibility, strength as we age and moderate cardio. It is also an opportunity to exercise among those of a similar age/level in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Call 087 9784628 for more details.

Property Marking Machine will be available in Maugherow area on Saturday, April 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., located at Maugherow Hall. Five items per person only. This is available to anyone who wishes to permanently mark their property (tools, trailers, machinery, bicycles, equipment etc) as robbery protection. Merville Community Centre in Conjunction with Sligo Sports and Recreation Partnership are continuing our Taster Walking Football Session Series at Our New Astro Facility on Next Saturday Morning, April 13, from 11.30 a.m. Aimed at, but not exclusively, over-50s, this is an introduction to a concept that is increasing popular as a social and Healthy activity. The Skreen-Dromard Drama Group are staging a three-act comedy 'Holy Orders' by Martin Donohue in the Skreen-Dromard Community Centre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 12, 13 and 14 at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7.30. The Athletic Track at the Skreen-Dromard Community Centre will be closed to the public from April 9 to April 11 for maintenance cleaning. Due to this operation the Soccer Pitch will also be closed. Any inconvenience caused for the three days is regretted.
