Avalon Centre - Christmas Experience: The countdown is continuing to our Festive Family Day of fun on December 15 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. It promises to be an enjoyable day for children and adults alike. The festivities will include: Indoor and Outdoor Markets; Christmas Craft Workshop for children; Live Christmas Pet Farm; Santa's Grotto and Express Delivery Post Box to the North Pole; Drama and Singing Workshops for children, hot food and drinks and lots more.
This is a day not to be missed and is a chance to pick up those last minute bargains. The cost is €10 for children aged 2+. Free admission for adults and children under two. We have a number of spaces available for stall holders. Social Day Centre
Our social day centre provides older adults with improved quality of life through opportunities for socialising and lifelong learning. It also provides them with a place to engage with their peers and promotes inclusion and integration of older people in the life of the community. The centre also aims to improve the mental health and well-being of older adults and to combat feelings of loneliness and isolation.
The social day centre runs four days per week, Tuesday to Friday from 9.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Contact the centre for further details. The programme is funded by the HSE and by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection.
Seniors Alert Scheme
The Avalon Centre are providers of the Seniors Alert Scheme. The Seniors Alert Scheme provides grant support for the supply of monitored personal alarms in the form of pendants or wrist watches that enable older people to continue to live securely in their homes. The grant covers the cost of the equipment and its installation. The first year of monitoring is free and will be €60 per year thereafter. Anyone, who is over the age of 65 and wishes to get a personal alarm or anyone seeking more information on the scheme can contact Donna at 071 9161836 or email email@example.com.
Our Little Buddies Parent and toddler group meets on Monday and Friday mornings from 10.30 a.m. to midday. Parents, grandparents and carers are all welcome. There is always a warm welcome with tea, coffee and refreshments provided. €3 per family.
Our Bright Minds Preschool operates from 9.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. and the Afterschool from 1.30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, September-June. Bright Minds are providers of the ECCE and Community Childcare Subvention Schemes, offering free Preschool spaces and subsidised Afterschool spaces for eligible families. The Avalon Centre Bowling Club meets every Wednesday from 11á€=AFa.m. to 1á€=AFp.m. at the centre. All are welcome-just call in on the day.
Bingo continues every Friday night from 9á€=AFp.m. to 11á€=AFp.m. Double books cost €15, single books €10, half books €5 and single sheets €1. There is also a raffle on the night.

Our Junior club meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The senior youth club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Cadra Thank You event
All volunteers, friends and supporters are invited to a thank event in Molly Fulton's next Friday, November 30, at 7 p.m. Tea or coffee etc will be available. We will have free Hi-Viz, Tidy Town Report, application forms for Text Alert, Seniors Alarm and CPR available. Please come along for an informal chat; look back at our activities over the year and let us hear your new ideas.
Lighting our Christmas Tree Mass on Saturday evening, December 8, has been changed to 7 p.m. to facilitate the blessing of the Christmas tree at the community centre followed by tea or coffee in the community centre, organised by Cadra This is an opportunity for the community of Carraroe to come together for an evening of prayer and socialisation in preparation for Christmas with our very talented choirs. All children, parents and residents are invited to be involved. Please keep the date free and join all the community for this special occasion.
Rehearsal on Mondays at 8 p.m. in the church. If you can sing and would like to be part of a community choir, please come along. More male singers are required.
25 Card Game
Cadra in partnership with St John's GAA Club organise the regular game of progressive 25 which takes place in Carraroe Community Centre each Tuesday night at 9 p.m. Looking forward to seeing all our regular players. New inexperienced players are always welcome. Usual jackpot and prizes on the night. All proceeds go to local projects in the community.
We acknowledge and appreciate the €1,000 allocated by Cllr Chris Mac Manus towards the speed warning lights in the area. We also appreciate the €1,000 allocation by Cllr Marie Casserly towards progressing the footpath on road to Community Sports Facility and eventually to Holywell.
Cadra continues to distribute free Hi-Viz vests. We appeal to people walking or working around our community to wear Hi-Viz to ensure visibility in these dark evenings. We have a supply of free HiViz available from any member of committee. Please keep a look out for all our elderly neighbours to ensure they are safe this winter.

Parking at Church: Please use the designated car parks at our church which includes around the community centre. Plenty of parking is available in safe locations. Please avoid parking on the main roads. It obstructs passing traffic.
Fit - Camp Classes
This class will be held each Monday and Thursday evening in Carraroe Community Centre. Lose Weight and Tone Up in a fun and enjoyable environment. Men and Women of all fitness levels welcome. Sean nós dancing
Classes by all-Ireland Champion Dancer Ryan Sheridan continue on Friday evenings in Carraroe Community Centre. Beginner Classes from 6 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Intermediate Classes from 7 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Registration on the night 30 minutes before start of each class. Lakeview Guild ICA

The art classes continue on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the community centre and there will be an exhibition of their paintings at our December meeting. The Christmas party for the Lakeview guild members will be held following the December meeting.
The guild members agreed to make a donation to charity instead of exchanging gifts, all members agreed and this will be collected at the next meeting.
St John's GAA Club

Christmas Tree Event
Our annual Christmas Tree Event will take place on Saturday, December 1, from 4 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. The event will take place outside the Cranmore Regeneration Office where we will sing Christmas Carols and have the blessing and lighting of the Christmas Tree, with light refreshments in the Cranmore Co-op offices to follow with the addition of Santa Claus and DJ Séamie Mac playing a few Festive Tunes. A 'Shave Off' for Grovember in Memory of Séamus Carway takes place on Saturday, December 8, in Castledargan Hotel, Ballygawley. There are over 65 men from over Sligo/Leitrim and further afield getting hairy in Memory of Séamus for Sligo Cancer Support Centre. Please come along to the 'Shave Off' night and enjoy entertainment, food, music and lots of spot prizes on the night. Thanks to all the local people involved for their support. The annual Mass for deceased and the sick of our community will take place this year on this Friday, November 30, at Merville Centre at 7.30 p.m. Followed by light refreshments. All in our community and beyond are welcome to attend.
The management committee, staff and the wider Merville community wish to express our sincere condolences to the family and many friends of Gerard (Gerry) Keavney, Larkhill Road and formerly of Cedar Drive, who has passed away recently. May he rest in peace.

Merville Community Centre in conjunction with Merville United has recently opened a new all weather pitch adjacent to the centre, and limited slots are available for hire.
This pitch is ideal for 7-a-side soccer and various small sided games and activities especially for smaller groups not catered for on the larger facilities.
