Achonry-Mullinabreena: Win €1,000 - Tickets are now available for the Coolaney-Mullinabreena GAA annual Fundraising Draw.

It's a bigger, improved offering this year with 12 smashing prizes in total and a massive €1,000 on offer as first prize. Many thanks to all who sponsored prizes this year.

Tickets are available from committee members, senior players, coaches and shops locally. Proceeds towards club expenses and Nace O'Dowd Park maintenance. Your support is greatly appreciated.

From Mullinabreena to Manhattan

Best of luck to Noelle Brennan, who is currently in New York with a group of performers as part of the award winning original Irish musical 'Big Shot'. The musical will make its New York debut after being selected by 'Rave Theatre Festival for a five night off Broadway run. Noelle was chosen by the creator Lauryn Gaffney as the piano player for the performances.

Community Games

Good luck to Ben Clavin, Chaffpool, who will be representing the county at the Community Games national finals in the 1500meters at UL Limerick on August 17 and 18.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Every Thursday at midday in St Joseph's Hall. Alcoholics Anonymous is an international fellowship of men and women who have had a drinking problem. Their stated purpose is to enable 'members to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.' It is nonprofessional, self-supporting, and apolitical.

Boyle Pride of Place

Judging will take place on Tuesday, August 13, commencing at 2.30 p.m. Community groups and organisations will soon be contacted to forward a brief outline of their group, how they participate with the community and to include a photograph. It is also important that groups and organisations make representatives available for judging day and to this effect, please keep free Tuesday afternoon, August 13.

Boyle GAA

Boyle GAA Club is delighted to announce that this year's Social Initiative Trip will be to the National Ploughing Championships. This year it is taking place in Carlow and the club will travel down on Wednesday, September 18, in the club Rossie Bus. Previous social trips to Belfast and Dublin were enjoyable and well received - the ploughing has been chosen this year due to popular demand.

We anticipate that places will fill up quickly and encourage those interested in travelling to contact either Martin Dolan at 086 2413529 or Barry Lowe at 086 8545492 for further details and to book places. Please note that this is an open trip for anyone who wishes to attend the ploughing championships.

Boyle Basketball Club

Our senior men's team are now back on a Friday night. They train at 8 p.m. and are always looking for new members so if you want to get involved come along and see what it's all about.

Diabetes Ireland plan to run an evening free group education course for individuals with Type two diabetes and Pre-diabetes in the Building block, Bridge Street, Sligo commencing September 9 Booking is essential as places are limited. Recent deaths

The death took place on July 31 at his residence of Seán McGovern, Strandhill a native of Gurteen - he was a cousin of Veronica Regan, Gurteen. He is survived by his son Odhran and brother Patrick, sister - in-law Sheila, nephews, nieces, cousins relatives and friends to whom deepest sympathy is extended. May he rest in peace.

The death took place on August 3 of Winifred Sugrue (née Keane) of New York and a native of Kilfree Gurteen - she was an aunt of Winnie Mannion, Doon and Mary Barney, Gurteen and Margaret Gillick, Meath. Sincere sympathy is extended to them and to all her relations and friends. May she rest in peace.

Concern collection

Concern Churchgate collection on weekend 21st taken up at Gurteen - a total of €390 was donated and €100 at Killaraght. Thanks to all who contributed.

Recent baptism

Welcomed in the Sacrament of baptism on Saturday was Jake Patrick Convey, Kilfree - son of Michelle and Barry Convey - brother to Chloe and Tommie.

Seisiun in Gurteen

The Seisiun continues next Wednesday night at 8.30 p.m. in the Coleman Music Centre, Gurteen - always a great night of music. song and dance with Maureen O'Dowd, John Dwyer, Fiona Doherty, Niamh McGloin, Cliodhna Henry and Michael Hurley, and dancing by Laura Johnson and Laura Ganley - plus audience participation. Coleman Festival

Summer Seisiun

The Saturday night Junior Music continues every Saturday in the Coleman Centre, Gurteen at 8.30 p.m. - this is a popular event every year and is hosted by well known musician Fiona Doherty. All levels of skill will be appreciated and encouraged. All are welcome - refreshments are served at the interval. Always a great nights entertainment.

Culfadda annual walk in aid of North West Hospice on Sunday, September 8. Registration at 12, 30 in Culfadda Hall. Music in Higgins Lounge that evening at 6 p.m. with Maureen O'Dowd. Please note the walk this year will be 7.5 kilometres.

The annual Culfadda walk in aid of North West Hospice takes place on Sunday, September 8. Registration starts at 12, 30 p.m. in Culfadda Hall. There will be music in Higgins Lounge that evening at six o'clock with Maureen O'Dowd. Please note this year's walk is 7.5 Kilometres.

Fr Gabriel's Jubilee

Thank you to everyone that contributed in anyway with the parish celebrations honouring 25 years since Fr Gabriel was ordained. It was a marvelous occasion, enjoyed by everyone. It was great to see such a hugh crowd on such a wet evening. Thank you in particular to Pádraig and Mary in Higgins' Lounge for a wonderful evening. We will Fr Gabriel every blessing and many years of ministry ahead.
